You are headed for a vacation to Portugal. The three links listed above are all linked, in that they are all related to the same runway project on the small island of Madeira, Portugal

The first link shows the magnitude of the finished project and you really get a feeling of the size especially in the photo showing the cars underneath it.

The second link has a map showing exactly where this island is between Portugal and Morocco. You also get a view of the whole runway as it sits on this tiny point of the island, plus several photos putting you in the pilot’s seat seeing the runway as you are approaching it to land your jet plane.

Last, but not least, link number 3 shows a few architectural drawings for those who like the technical things, and then some photos taken during the construction process along with a little history and some technical figures.

Have fun imagining you are arriving for your vacation on the isle of Madeira, the plane has just landed and you are departing through the jetway, oops, no jetway, it’s the old fashion, roll it out to the plane, stairs. We hope you send us a postcard and we’ll all be here waiting to hear all about it when you get back.
