Honoring Those Who Serve

I write grants for different non-profit organizations located in our county. One organization is "The Colonel Charles Waterhouse Historical Art Museum." This museum is unique. Colonel Waterhouse, is a living historical artist, and a Veteran of three wars.

I have learned so much of American history from the Revolutionary days till today, just studying his paintings and sculptures. Each has such realism that they look more like true color photographs than a painting.

The faces in each painting brings the realism of pain and anguish that our military men and women see and live through. Even my grandchildren have remarked that you could see the sweat and worry on the faces in the paintings. (Great insight and appreciation of art in these youngsters.)

In discussing what our military forces go through on a daily basis, I have asked them to "Adopt A Troup" or "Adopt a Vet" and pray for these individuals, and to write and send cards to the wounded soldiers.

I am asking that each of you do the same. Thanksgiving and Christmas is an especially hard time for them.

You can buy inexpensive greeting cards at a $1 store and write a little note of encouragement. (Or play designing one on the computer.)   That's the least we can do for those that give so much.

Remember to thank them with a message of love and cheer. No Politics!

Here is one address I have. But, there are others too.
