Courage

Many of our readers know I am currently involved in trying to open a museum that honors all heroes.  I personally represent "The Colonel Charles Waterhouse Historical/Art Museum."

The "Colonel," as he is affectionately known as, has painted and sculptured military heroes from the Revolutionary War days till today. He is in his 80's and is currently working on portraits of Medal of Honor recipients and the deeds that won them the honor.

As we approach different entities to join forces in getting this museum open, I am continually made aware of the courage it took to make these individuals "Heroes."

Ralph Waldo Emerson's famous quote "A hero is no braver than an ordinary person, but he is braver five minutes longer," and George Patton's "Courage is fear holding on a minute longer" or "Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgment that something else is more important than fear," by Ambrose Redmoon all describe a hero taking that extra step.

"Courage is grace under pressure." — Ernest Hemmingway

There are heroes wherever we look, whenever we look. Yet many of us do not recognize or acknowledge them. And as Dale Carnegie said, "Most of us have far more courage than we ever dreamed we possessed."

In everyday life it takes courage. Not the same as in the battlefield, or facing a fire or flood, but courage to be the best we can be...

Courage to stand up for what is right.

Courage to always speak the truth.

Courage to lead a moral and ethical life.

Courage to respect all others and allow them to have the same intrinsic, basic rights.

Courage to stand up for your beliefs.

Courage to do what you were put on this earth to do.

Courage to be all that God intends you to be...and you too will be a Hero in someone's life
