Empathy and Encouragement

In these days of so much turmoil in so many people’s lives, it is easy to forget how to show empathy and encouragement.

If we truly want to help someone, we first must learn to listen.

Sometimes that is the hardest part. Just to listen, and not offer our own opinion. Most people do not want our opinions, they just want someone to listen to their problems.

What most people are looking for is empathy and encouragement.

Showing empathy means that you are showing them that you understand their feelings and thoughts. You may not agree with them, but, you can certainly understand their feelings.

Offering encouragement shows that you not only understand their feelings, but that you can offer support, and reassurances that all will be OK.

You can offer both empathy and encouragement by being an inspiration to those around you.

You can share experiences in a non-judgmental way. Again not offering your opinion, just shared experiences.

When you share experiences different views come into play without someone feeling threatened or foolish for making the choices and decisions that they make.

Like magic fairy dust, when you spread empathy and encouragement around, people and situations change for the better.
