Children of Fortitude

This past Saturday we had our annual fund raising Fall Festival to raise money for our children’s charity called Helping Hands, Loving Hearts.

Our organization helps families with children suffering from a catastrophic illness, and each year we pray that they will be with us at our next event.

These children are fragile because of their illnesses, but they show such courage, strength, endurance and tenacity, even as they face adversity. They have such joy within. They are filled with a spirit about them… a life force of God within.

Three hundred and fifty tickets were sold out in 1 ½ days. Many came from far away. Some traveled more than five hours to get to our Fall Festival Dinner and silent auction. Many told me they wouldn’t miss it for anything in the world except for their own children getting married.

Before the meal was served, a priest said a prayer. Christians, Jews, Muslims, and others prayed together for our children, the volunteers that help them, and for world peace. When the prayed ended, in harmony all said “Amen”.

That began the Spirit filled evening of touching lives and sharing the extensive gift collection, and the wonderful meal prepared for over 400 people and donated by a local restaurant.

People thanked us for inviting them! We thanked them for purchasing tickets and joining us in celebrating our Children of Fortitude, and helping us, help them.
