Saying Thank You

Many people think manners have gone by the way side. There have been articles that no one ever says “Thank you,” any more.  I don’t know where they live, but I consciously watched people the other day  and every one said “Thank you.”

Needless to say, I was very pleasantly surprised. Elderly, teens, and little kids, all saying, “Thank you.”  Wow!

I was repeating this to my husband in the evening. And he told me how his day went.  He opened a super market door for a woman holding a toddler in her arms and pushing a wagon.

She dropped something. He picked it up and handed it to her.

He held the door opened for her. She passed through, saying nothing.

He held the second door open for her. She passed through, saying nothing.

After she cleared the door, still saying nothing, my husband said “Thank you” and she gave him a dirty look. So he walked near her and said “It doesn’t cost anything to be nice…you should try it some time.”

She replied, “I will, thank you!”
