God Given Daisies — by
Many Times
Many times I have to run a meeting where people
complain. Many times I wish to flee
their chronic complaints.
Many times I wonder what their lives are really
like beyond the halls where we meet. I
wonder what their families and friends are like, and how they interact with
them.
I wonder why they choose to snarl instead of
smile.
I wonder why they are here at this meeting, not
contributing in any way.
I wonder if they have been taught and conditioned
to tear down and not to build up.
I wonder why I stay. Why do I keep on trying to
reach some of these sad souls?
Then, many times, a small voice will say, “Thank you for coming,” or “Thank you for writing that short note to me, it came when I really needed it…”
And… Many times I know,
without a doubt, that it is all worth while.
Yes, many times.
