God Given Daisies — by
Did you every have a song rattle around your brain for a day, and wonder why you thought of it after so many years? It happens to me often, and I wonder why it does. Is God trying to tell me something?
Is the song a hint of what I am supposed to do? What is it really telling me, other than being an upbeat song with a positive message?
This time the song was written by Bill Gaither and it's called "I am a Promise." In years past I used it when working with children and troubled teens.
I called a friend of mine to see if he remembered all the words to the song and we started searching on You-Tube to find it.
I found all the lyrics on the Bill Gaither site, and he found a short musical version of it on You-Tube.
It is funny how a song could bring you back to the years gone by, as if it were yesterday. But the message is still the same.
I am a promise
I am a possibility
I am a promise, with a capital "P"
I am a great big bundle of potentiality
And I am learnin' to hear God's voice
And I am trying to make the right choice
I am a promise to be, anything God wants me to be
-- First chorus of the Bill Gaither song "I am a Promise."
The question is still the same as when the song came out. . .
Are we each reaching, learning, and trying to be, what God sees our potentiality to be?
