God Given Daisies             — by Carole Devecka

Each and every day we face millions of choices.

Some choices are unconscious choices.  Most, if we really think about them, can be changed into conscious choices.

We can choose to be positive in a negative environment. Not always easy, but do-able.  We can choose to end judgment. We can choose love and compassion.

Neal Donald Walsch is the best selling author of the "Conversations with God" series of books and in his book, "Happier than God," he says "The way to move out of judgment is to move into gratitude…"

"When gratitude replaces judgment, peace spreads throughout your body, gentleness embraces your soul, wisdom fills our mind. Let gratitude replace judgment and your whole experience of life will take a turn for the better.  This is because attitude is everything.  Attitude is like a Map of the Mind. A positive attitude will put you on the path to inner peace, harmony, and happiness.”

"You are still in charge of your own experiences.  You many not be able to change the circumstances, but you can change your reaction to all circumstances.”

What I have learned from "Happier than God" is that we should not resist what is occurring.  As Mr. Walsch says, "What you resist persists."  Oh, No! Think about that... By resisting, we cause more of whatever it is we fear, to happen!

Neal Donald Walsh states that in all things and circumstances, bless it. Bless all experiences, the good, the bad, the ugly. Bless all the people and events that are disappointing you. Accept what is going on, because only then, can you heal it. Hold on to the experience, embrace it, engage it with loving kindness, bless it and send it on its way.

Other choices to make daily are:

Choose to smile. It changes the chemistry of your body, mind, and spirit.  (A good book on this is "Smile for No Good Reason" by Lee L. Jampolsky.)

Choose to sing. Singing connects the mind with the heart and the heart with the soul.  (I always make up silly songs to soothe cranky kids... They laugh, they giggle, and they forget the grumpies.)

Choose to be kind... Kind words change the recipient and the giver.

And choose to be happy...

Come on, you can do it!  Make conscious choices.
