THE BARE NECESSITIES
The other day I was watching the Disney movie called The Jungle Book with the kids and singing around the house one of its songs called the "Bare Necessities." While doing this, I thought to myself that this is really a very happy song that would uplift anyone's day.
Some of the words are: Give me the Bare Necessities
The simple bare necessities
Forget about your worries
and your strife
Give me the bare necessities
The Mother Nature's recipes
That bring the bare necessities
Give a look on You tube, and see if your mood doesn't change: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ogQ0uge06o .
It really is true, all we do need are the "Bare Necessities." All the other stuff is superficial.
Physicians and dieticians are now telling us to go back to the basics and eat those things produced by Mother Nature herself... Seeds put into the ground with faith they will produce.
It is being proved daily that processed foods, sweets, and fats are killing us. But fruits, berries, nuts, and beans will bring us back to health.
We are to keep things simple.
I watch "Enough Already" with Peter Walsh, a show on the new OWN network (Oprah Winfrey Network) about people who are hoarders hiding behind their stuff. They are then taught how uncluttering their lives can mean freedom to enjoy each other and live a life without stress.
I found a website called FlyLady.net where they teach you how to organize your home in sections and how to live a more simplified life. FlyLady’s organizational suggestions are done on a small scale at 15 minute intervals. Imagine de-cluttering in 15 minutes! This year we are trying for 7 in 2011...
I love her sayings like:
Are you living in CHAOS...Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome?
Don't know where to start? Don't worry we have all been there and you can control your life and your home by learning and doing baby steps. You are not behind. I don't want you to catch up; I just want you to jump in where we are.
Using very simple techniques and listening to some of Flylady's music can really get you going.
This year I promised myself and my husband that I will de-clutter, simplify, and go back to some of the Bare Necessities of Life.
