Culinary Tips From Chef Raven
Prepare Ahead of Time
I like to try and get everything done for dinner early and then I don't have to worry about running around at the last minute. An easy thing to prepare ahead is the salad.
Unfortunately, there are always ingredients that will brown if you cut them and add them too early, like apples or avocados. An easy solution to this problem is to sprinkle the salad with a small amount of red wine vinegar and toss it. The acid in the vinegar will keep ingredients from turning brown. Even if you are using a bottled salad dressing, the red wine vinegar will mix in just fine. Just be careful to only use a small amount or you will wilt your lettuce.
