My Song  by Lisa Vaden

JOURNALING

Journaling is very important.  It is probably one of the most helpful things that you could do for yourself.

It is all about taking the time to check in with you.  And if you do not have time for yourself, well then you really need to tweak your schedule.  If you do not take care of yourself, eventually other areas of your life will run a-muck sooner or later.

Every one can spare five minutes a day to journal.  That’s all it takes.  OK, maybe more like fifteen minutes of draining the brain, getting out what’s bothering you, pondering about what you’d like to see happen, or writing about the great things that are going on in your life that you are grateful for and want to be able to look back and remember one day.

Many people are crazy busy running around like chickens with their heads cut off and don’t have time for anything else, let alone writing in a journal.  Which is total baloney because I just went through a crazy week and was very much sleep deprived, and what kept me sane was to start each morning writing in my journal.

So for all the crazy busy excuses my response is and will always be… What happens when you get really, really sick?  I’ll tell you what happens, you stop everything and nothing in the world matters except for you getting well.  And you “check out” until you are well and the world doesn’t fall apart.  So it is possible for you to take a break, and journaling sure beats being laid flat out on your back sick as a dog for a week.

Journaling doesn’t have to be a chore.  It is a gift.  It is a mini vacation.  It is validation… I matter, my life matters and I wanna take the time to look at it, plan for it and appreciate it.

Journaling is a valuable tool.  Maybe you’d like to schedule an appointment with yourself today?  It does the mind, body and soul good.
