My Song — by Lisa Vaden
I’M GONNA KNOCK YOU OUT!
So recently the thought occurred to me… Get going on what you really want to do! The time is now. Not yesterday. Not tomorrow. Dude, what are you gonna do with your now?
Am I brilliant or what?!
Anyway, I did a few things…
I was talking with a couple of dudes and one of them asked me if I thought I would be getting my Harley this summer like we had been talking about over the winter. I told them that I didn’t see it happening for me right now, but then I thought and said, “But… I could go ahead and take the class and get my license anyway.”
So I went down to the school and signed up for the course and presto! At the end of May I will be taking a three day Basic Motorcycle Rider Course. Yay! And then when the time is right a bike will make its way into my life.
I also practiced playing my guitar. My guitar teacher let me record our last lesson and it really helps me to hear what it is I am trying to work on. And every time I hear the tape…it makes me want to practice and play and practice some more. So I do and I do and I do some more!! Of course, I am still not good at it, but at least I am still excited about it and trying!
So while we are here, we might as well talk about kickboxing. I love it. I love it. I LOVE IT!!! The kickboxing class I take is a full body workout that has a combination of aerobics, muscle and ab toning, and my favorite part…real punching and kicking (on a stand up punching bag, not people)!
Now here is the kicker. I don’t want to fight anyone; I just want to own my power. After my first class the teacher told me that the second level was sparring. I told him, “Dude, I don’t want anyone to actually hit me! One good blow and that just might cure me of my desire to learn kickboxing.” Ha ha ha
Maybe I’ll try sparring and maybe I won’t. Who knows? All I know is that I want to get really, really good at Level One.
I also want to play the guitar really well too. I am just nowhere near as good at that as I am with punching, so I am a bit more reserved in this area versus my normal enthusiastic approach of, “Oh I am soooooo gonna master this!” It’s kinda funny, I always practice my guitar right before my kickboxing lessons because then I can beat the tar out of something to release all of my frustration. I think I have a working plan here.
Oh, and the bike thing, I would really love to be able to drive a motorcycle. Oh heck, who am I kidding? I want to own one and drive it! And not just any bike. I wanna Harley, a girlie Harley, but a Harley nonetheless. I didn’t come here to ride on the back of anyone else’s bike…I came here to drive my own!
I really can’t explain these desires that I have. And I guess the point is that I don’t have to explain anything to anyone.
Nor do you.
I have these desires and I am doing something about it.
How about you?
Do you listen to and act on the things that move you?
Do you find out for yourself whether or not something is right for you?
Time’s a ticking…and it is time to be living the life you wanna be living.
When else are you gonna do it? Your life is happening right now!
When parting ways with the dudes I had been talking to about the motorcycle class, I jokingly said, “Who knows, maybe in a year from now I’ll put on a concert for you from the back of my Harley and when I am done I will punch you!” We all laughed really hard.
Who the heck knows what I am building here. I don’t.
I just know that it all makes me really, really happy. And in the end that is all that truly matters.
If you are not totally enjoying your life, do
something about it.
Life brings you playmates who will support you and encourage you and share with you and teach you when you are on the path to creating a life that makes you happy!
I hope you get out there and start doing some stuff that you really wanna do!
If you want it to be… you gotta create it.
Until
next time,
Lisa
PS: Never
settle. Always work on creating the life
that you know you are meant to
live.
A
great book that can help you is my book May I Have This Dance, Little One?
God’s Whispers.
Just
a thought.
