REFLECTIONS OF A ZEN MASTER

By Jeanette M. Pintar - with inspiration from Misty

TURN YOUR HOME INTO YOUR CASTLE

Misty, although ever so humble, quickly became ruler of hearts and our home. She possessed an almost magical, regal quality about her. Misty was always peaceful, always loving and concerned. But she had a way of commanding your attention - and your affection. Her presence in our lives transformed us into more loving and compassionate people. Her presence in our home transformed it from a small apartment dwelling into our castle.

A lot of us get fooled into thinking creating a nice home means buying all the latest frills, new décor, appliances, and gadgets. But I learned to take a cue from Misty who cherished the most simple places. She didn't like clutter or messes but relished a freshly made bed where she could savor the morning sunlight. Misty also loved basking on a just-vacuumed carpet and truly enjoyed the scent of a recently watered house plant. From Misty, I learned to keep things simple and instead of investing time and money into new possessions, to keep up my existing belongings and create a clutter free space. We treated our home like a castle, and it became one - without all the extra hoopla and expense.

Remember: Turn your home into your castle.
