Lesson 16

What task did you do from you Master Plan this past week?

Can you see the progress you’re making?  How does it feel?

Have you begun your moving meditation or light exercise routine?  How is it?  If you’re not enjoying it physically and emotionally, find another routine but do keep at it!

People often ask, “How do I know if this is what I’m meant to do?”  We think if we enjoy it, if it comes naturally to us, if it doesn’t feel like work, then it’s not a valid dream.  Or we fear doing things that are off the beaten track.  How do we know if we’re doing the right thing?  As Julia Cameron says, “Our truest dream for ourselves is always God’s will for us.”

Really think about that for a minute…

“Our truest dream for ourselves is always God’s will for us.”

We must learn to trust ourselves, our dreams, our inner guidance.  And be willing to follow.  This is an act of faith, and faith really can move mountains – or least some pretty big obstacles!

Ms. Cameron also urges us to get serious about allowing ourselves to play.  There is good reason for this… not only for our creativity and our dreams, but also for our quality of life.

Many things will come up during your journey of creatively fulfilling your dreams, as The Artist’s Way says, “You’re either losing your mind—or gaining your soul.  Life is meant to be an artist date.  That’s why we were created.”

When we come to those things which make us want to run from our dreams, we must muster our courage and strength to break through those fears and keep going.  Don’t allow others to deter you, either.  People who have your best interest in mind will encourage you to listen to your soul and follow your heart.  Keep going!

We’re getting closer to the end of you’re A-Muse-Ing Inspirations Plan and a new beginning of taking charge of your life and your dreams.  You’ve come along way and you’ve got even further to go.  But YOU CAN DO IT!  You’re already well on your way.  You’ve set up a plan, you’ve been learning what you need to know and taking the steps you need to take.  Your dreams are coming true… Thanks to YOU!

Now let’s move on to this week’s assignment!

Week 16 Assignment

Use your day planner!   Begin by scheduling the following:

Read The Artist’s Way Read Creativity Contract, Epilogue, and Appendix:  Pages 202 – 211.  Pay attention to the rules of the Sacred Circle and the need for support in your creativity and following your dreams.

As you read, look for the main points and underline anything that speaks to you or sounds like it would make a good quote.  (If you’re afraid to mess up your book, use pencil, you can erase it later.)

Write and Sign Your own Creativity Contract as found on Page 202.  Modify it in anyway necessary to help you in the pursuit of your dreams.

Form Your Own Group. Try to involve those people you know will support you.  You can use the guidelines for the Sacred Circle if you like.  Make it a play group or a support group, or both!  The important part is to get together with positive people once a week to “fill the well.”   The group can be as simple as playing board games or cards or you can find folks who, like you, wish to pursue their dreams and want to use the group to help one another set goals, hold each other accountable, and offer support.

Schedule, plan and take a date with yourself every week for the rest of the year! You don’t have to know what your date will be yet, but schedule it in.  Hold your dates with yourself as sacred.  This is important for your well-being and the well-being of your dreams.  Besides you deserve some down time to enjoy life and have fun!

Write 3 pages of long-hand in your journal daily.  You should be in the habit of writing by now.  Don’t give it up!  Some people think it’s only important to write when you’re stressed of have some challenge to work through.  The truth is it’s important to journal every day of your life to stay connected to your Self and to Spirit.  Keep writing!

Pick a task from your Master Plan and do it!   Just one little thing will take you that much closer to your dreams. (And yes, it’s OK if you decide to do more than one task per week!)  Make this part of your weekly routine.

Right now, this very moment, place a note in your day-planner for each week of the remaining year to pick a task from your Master Plan to do it.  That will help keep you on track and remind yourself that following your dreams is part of your duty to yourself.
