Lesson 6

I’m so excited for you!  I know this last week has taken you yet another step closer to the fulfillment of your dreams.   So what task did you pick from your Master Plan?  How did it feel doing it?

Have you had to update your Master Plan already?  If so, that’s OK.  One of the most important aspects of making your dreams come true, or even just coping with Life, is to be fluid and adaptable.

What do you think of The Artist’s Way?  Have you begun to see the ways doing this book can help you reach your dreams?

What did you think about Crazy Makers?

This was one of the most pivotal insights of my life!  I realized I wasn’t going anywhere because I allowed myself to be surrounded by Crazy Makers even as I was attempting to get normalcy in my life.  Instead of being able to focus on healing myself, I was reacting to their chaos.  Once given the insight to recognize crazy makers, I was better able to put my foot down and set boundaries which allowed me to focus on my own needs and put my health and well being first!  This is one of the most important lessons anyone can learn.

Also, did you get any insight as to whether or not you believe you are supported… by God, the Universe, or those who know you?  It’s really important to not only have positive support, but to BELIEVE you are supported.

If you haven’t done it yet, copy down The Rules of the Road on page 55.  Once again, you can insert “dreamer” or another appropriate title in place of “Artist.”

How’s the journaling coming?  Has the brain-drain been helping?  Have you gotten any insights?  Are you actually DOING it?   Journaling is a really powerful tool for anyone with a vision, or for anyone needing a vision.  Taking time to explore what we want on the page helps clarify it in our mind’s eye, and within our heart.

Where did you go for your weekly date with yourself?  Did you enjoy it?   Beware of trying to make your dates “worthwhile” by doing something you can combine with work.  This is for sheer fun… And your Self.

Did you use the scratch pad in your journal at all this week?  It makes it easier to track down all the notes you’d usually leave on post-it’s and other scratch pieces of paper.   It might take a bit to remember it’s there, but once you do, this little pad of paper can come in really handy!

Now let’s take our next steps toward the fulfillment of our dreams and move on to this week’s assignment!

Week 6 Assignment

Use your day planner and Scratch Pad! (And yes, doodling is allowed.)

Begin by scheduling the following:

Read The Artist’s Way  Chapter 3:  Recovering A Sense of Power, Pages 61 - 77

As you read, look for the main points and underline anything that speaks to you or sounds like it would make a good quote.  (If you’re afraid to mess up your book, use pencil, you can erase it later.)

Pick and do at least 3 of the 10 exercises at the end of the chapter.  You can do more!  The more you put into doing this, the more of yourself – and your dreams — you will get out of it.    Have fun.

Do the Check-In on Page 77.

Schedule, plan and take a date with yourself. Make it something entertaining, fun, relaxing.  Make it something you look forward to.  Guard your date, make it sacred.  You deserve it.  Your dreams deserve it.

Write 3 pages of long-hand in your journal daily.  Just sit down and let the pen flow across the page.  Don’t edit.  Don’t fix it.  Just write and write and write until you have 3 full pages.  It’s best to write in the mornings, but if you can’t do it then, do it whenever you can.  The importance of doing these “Morning Pages” is explained in the book.

Pick a task from your Master Plan and do it!   Just one little thing will take you that much closer to your dreams. (And yes, it’s OK if you decide to do more than one task per week!)

This might sound like a lot at first, but as you do it, you’ll discover it’s merely a shift in routine.  A shift that incorporated into a daily habit will serve you quite well in creating a life that’s geared toward the fulfillment of your dreams and being in touch with a healthy YOU.

Now that’s worth writing about!   Good luck and have fun as you continue to make your dreams come true.
