Good Morning!

Today I ask for your patience and understanding. This St. Patrick's Day was perhaps the most difficult day of my life thus far as we witnessed the miracle of complete healing with our Misty Kitty's transition into the arms of our Creator. There were many positive things about Misty's passing… she did not suffer long, it was by her will (not ours), and she was in the comfort and safety of her home surrounded by those who love her.

Mark and I thank all of you who have stuck with us through the final phase of Misty's life on earth, giving your support, comfort, and love… and praying with us for her healing from the kidney failure which wreaked havoc on her tiny little body. They say big things come in small packages and Misty's soul was no exception. We know her glorious spirit is now free from the confines of her feline frame as she continues to shine her love on us. (There was even a star we'd never seen before shining into our window last night!)

SFPNN was created with the intention of finding one good thing a day. Most days this is not a struggle. Even now we continue to find blessings and miracles everywhere we look. The struggle is in breaking through the grief and sorrow of missing a beloved family member of nine years in order to present each of you with the high-quality inspirational issues of SFPNN you've come to expect. Luckily, our newsletter is not a one-person show! We are so fortunate to have many fine authors contributing to our publication. But please bear with me and understand if the daily greetings are a bit shorter than usual as I try to work through this incredibly challenging life change. (The daily greetings will be particularly rough for me as Misty would come sit on my lap and purr as I typed our Good Morning salutations. She was - and always will be - my angel, muse, and special friend.)

One of the incredibly positive experiences that has come out Misty's illness and final transition is the love and compassion for animals shared by so many of SFPNN's readers. Your kindness towards our fur and feathered friends, along with empathy for their owners, has been heartwarming and inspiring to say the least! For this I thank you with my heart overflowing! And for those of you who do have little soul companions cleverly disguised as pets, reach out whenever you can and give them a bit of lovin' from me - and a whole lotta lovin' from you.

Have a truly blessed day!

 Peace, Love, Happiness and Health

Jeanette

  9. Not Dead Yet! --- by Lacey Hardin & Sharon Palmer
  10. Uniquely, Positively You

I am reminded every day that people are different. Jeanette helps me a lot with that, bless her heart! <G> Every morning, I get Atlanta’s weather report, and how she feels about it. If the sun is shining, and it is warm (even closing in on hot), her mood is automatically boosted and she has a head start on a good day. If it is cloudy and a bit windy and rain is starting to fall, she has to work on her mood to get out of the dumps.

Me? If I wake up to cloudy skies, the sound of wind blowing, and the patter of little raindrops on the roof, I am ecstatic! I love it, and my day is off to a good start. If, on the other hand, the sun is glaring into my eyeballs and giving me headaches, and the temperature and humidity is such that I break out into a sweat as soon as I walk out the door, I am one Grumpy Gus. Those are the worst possible days for me and my Chiari, myofascial pain syndrome, dysautonomia, and whatever else is wrong with me. My head pounds, my eyes ache, I come close to fainting several times, and my overall pain level increases with the humidity.

That is only one example, although an excellent one! I’ve had to change my way of thinking about a lot of things. A good day, to me, used to be if I got to work early, plowed through a lot of work before anyone else showed up, and had a relatively "easy" day. If I had no sign of a headache that day – please, somebody pinch me! If I had slept well the night before and was not easily fatigued – score me another one! Sometimes, I was allowed to leave early, which was almost unheard-of! That, to me, was a wonderful day. I went home early, relaxed with a glass of wine, listened to my favorite music, watched my favorite shows if they were on, got ready for the next day, and went to sleep early and easily. Of course, if one of my articles or letters to the editor had been published in the paper that day – whoa! Mighty good day indeed!

Now, if I can get out of bed for longer than 30 minutes without hurting unbearably, walk down the hall and into the kitchen without falling, write an article, and especially get an article published – that is an amazing day for me. If I can keep my head from hurting more than the "warning sign" type of hurting – excellent! If I have enough energy to have both my babies (Bassets Piper and Wilson) up on the bed with me, I love that. That is all so very positive for me. It may not sound like much to other people, but I’m not other people. And that’s the point.

Truth? If I can make it through a day without thinking about dying or obsessing about my pain, that is the number-one most positive thing that can happen to me. Oh, I know, we as a society are not "supposed to" talk about that kind of thing, but it’s part of life. Pain and death happen. But there are ways to look at those positively as well. Pain? I lived for years with it, wanting to die, because I had no help. Now I do. Praise God and Dr. Blatman! (And my church for sending me to Dr. Blatman in the first place; without their initial financial support, it never would have happened.) Death? Oh, I know. It’s frightening. Or rather, it can be. But for me – death is a doorway to heaven, and to my God. It’s a place where pain and infirmities and disabilities cease to exist. It’s pure love. And what can be more positive than that?

So, if your idea of "positive" doesn’t seem to be in step with "everyone else’s," just remember – it doesn’t have to! It is your sense of positivity, and no one else’s, and you’re entitled to have it be exactly what you want it to be. Revel in that, and in your own individuality! Be positive about being yourself. There’s only one you, and the more positive you are, the better "you" you are! Face it – you owe it to yourself. And believe me, the rest of us want to see it in you as well! Am I sure? Oh, more than sure! Heck – I’m positive!

A NOTE From The Editor: Sharon, as you recall, I was delighted when I received your article last Thursday. Your message came through loud and clear and it was a great one for all of us to either learn for the first time or remind ourselves of once again! After the unexpected events of this weekend I am more grateful than ever for it (and YOU) and have no doubt that once again you have allowed Spirit to channel through you to reach others. Thank you. This one means more to me than you will ever know!

"Sometimes people come into your life and you know right away that they were meant to be there. They serve some sort of purpose, teach you a lesson or help figure out who you are and who you want to become. You never know who these people may be: your neighbor, child, long lost friend, lover, or even a complete stranger who, when you lock eyes with them, you know at that very moment that they will affect your life in some profound way. And sometimes things happen to you and at the time they seem painful and unfair, but in reflection you realize that without overcoming those obstacles you would have never realized your potential strength, will power, or heart. 17. * * * * * Sir Froggie's Pondering * * * * *

SIMPLY BEGIN

How do I overcome the doubts and fears holding me back? How do I over-ride behavior patterns I've gotten used to? How do I improve my life? How do I get started on my dreams?

The answer may be easier than you expected... Simply begin.

But my doubts and fears are so over-powering. I'm scared to death to step out. How do I get past this? How do I take the first step?

Simply begin.

I know I've got some bad habits. Watching TV isn't cutting it for me anymore. I'm sure my diet isn't really helping, either. I feel so lethargic after every meal. I can't seem to focus. I know I could do more, but how do I re-program myself to get out of these bad habits?

Simply begin.

OK, I admit it. I'm not living up to my full potential. I like who I am but I feel like there's more to life than what I'm experiencing. I know I could make it better, but where should I start?

Simply begin.

At one time my dreams were everything to me. Now they've slipped by, some partially fulfilled, others not at all. I've had ideas I know could work and glimpses of possibilities. My soul is yearning to dream again and my spirit wants to respond. How do I pursue my dreams?

Simply begin…

The most important step is simply to take a step. Don't get caught up in how big of a step, which brick to walk on, or where the next step will be. The best way to get moving is to begin to move.

Some people are organized and know exactly where to go, how and what to do and when. They know why, with whom, and predicted outcomes. They know their obstacles and ways around them. They have a plan and stick to it. But the average human being is not that focused. It's not because the majority of us are lazy or bad people. We just don't know where to start. This uncertainty prevents us from taking the most crucial action... simply beginning. Somewhere. Anywhere. Wherever the beginning may be for you.

You can begin by becoming aware of your thoughts. You can begin by acknowledging your feelings or intuition. You can begin by praying about it. You can begin by writing everything you're thinking about down on a piece of paper. You can begin by asking someone you trust about your ideas and your desires. You can begin by finding a partner to cheer you on and hold you accountable for your actions. You can begin by researching what it would take to begin. You can begin by making a list of all the steps you can currently think of that will get you to where you want to go and scheduling those steps in a day planner. You can begin by hiring a personal coach. You can begin by consulting a professional, regardless of whether that professional is yourself, a specialist, or your Higher Power. You can begin with a brainstorming session. You can begin by visualizing your thoughts and desires taking place in bold, vibrant details. You can begin by getting a book that tells you about the journey you're about to face. You can begin by clearing out a space where you can think and work toward your desires. You can begin by writing positive affirmations or listening to motivational tapes. You can begin by taking a class. You can begin by trying something different or new. You can begin by mustering up all the courage you have inside to take the first step. You can begin by being too afraid to sit still anymore.

Who, what, where, when, how, and why you begin do not matter as much as just beginning. Once you begin, you'll learn more, discover the details with better clarity, and figure out what comes next. You can plan, schedule and work out the fine print along the way or you can do it as your first step. Whatever you choose to do, the most important part is that you do it.

Simply begin.
