Howdy Folks and Good Day!

I'm still working out in the kinks in our current e-mail distribution program and inadvertently sent out the Sir Froggie cartoon to those of you on the SFPNN list.  So those of you who receive both SFPNN and the Monday Morning Sir Froggie cartoon may receive two copies.  And those of you who usually do not get the cartoon, may receive the cartoon today!   The good news is that we're switching over to a new distribution program in the upcoming weeks so hopefully all the glitches will get worked out soon!   Thanks for your patience and understanding!  :)

Can you believe we’re already entering October?  To celebrate the arrival of this beautiful month, Mark and I attended the local Oktoberfest at a family run farm yesterday.  It rained pretty hard for the first time in months, and the cooler temperatures and gray skies made it feel all the more like autumn!

I enjoyed corn-on-the-cob and Mark indulged in a genuine bratwurst. We also had fun shooting off a “corn cannon” and flinging damaged tomatoes in an over-sized sling shot!  It was a hoot!

Autumn is a season of duality to say the least!  On the one hand, summer—along with its lengthy daylight hours and abundant growth—comes to a screeching halt.  On the other hand, it’s a time of harvest and reward for hard-work well done.  Seeing all the pumpkins in the fields and the corn stalks waiting to be picked was a delightful reminder of the abundance nature provides.

This is a wonderful time of the year to reward yourself with noticing the harvest of your own efforts.  How much progress have you made on your dreams and goals?  What gifts have you been blessed with this year?   What challenges have you overcome?  What do you have to be grateful for?

Take some time to harvest your blessings!  Give thanks to God and those who made it possible.  Then give yourself a pat on the back for your participation in the process!

Keep note of these blessings and refer back to them when the darkness of winter settles in.  We all need a good reminder every now and then of how fortunate we are!

GETTING CLEAR ON YOUR FEAR

Do you know when fear is holding you back?

I don't. At least not always.

When I realize I'm fearful, I find it reasonably easy to face. I can experience it and determine whether it's something I need to pay attention to or move through it.

But when I DON'T notice my fear, I'm in danger of having it sidetrack me and my objectives.

Our first line of defense is to be aware and be conscious of our fears—to get clear on what it is that's causing our fear. This kind of inquiry is often more challenging than you might think. Our fears can be slippery little devils.

And this is where many people stop. They're simply unwilling to determine what the real fear is. They remain in denial. But when we get clear, we can go to the next step.

We can begin to determine if the fear is rational or irrational. Most of our fears are not legitimate, but some are. If you find yourself on an unstable perch, a healthy fear of heights is a good thing indeed.

Once we decide whether our fear is rational or not, we have to decide whether the payoff to moving out of our comfort zone outpaces the discomfort of our fear.

Our energy flows where our focus goes. And our focus should be on what we want, NOT what we don't want.

In 1984, I did one of the first fire walks with Tony Robbins. He was 24 years old and just beginning his rocket climb to fame and fortune.

I can tell you from first-hand experience that looking at 1200-degree coals definitely causes you to face your fears.

One of the tactics Tony taught us in our pre-walk seminar was to "be willing to face our worst-case scenario". The idea is to think of the worst thing that can happen—even exaggerate it—and then see if we're willing to accept the worst.  The exaggeration in THIS case was "bloody stumps".

Over 120 people (all attendees) walked on fire.

And to this day, I still use my memory of overcoming my fears that night when I feel trepidation in anything I undertake—or consider undertaking.

And I still have to work on being present enough to notice when I'm feeling fear. It's not like it's always a shaking, quaking, sweating fear. It's simply the discomfort that sometimes keeps us from going for all that we deserve.

I believe that awareness is 90-percent of overcoming any problem. As the great inventor and industrialist Charles Kettering said, "A problem clearly stated is a problem half solved."

Action Point

Notice when you're in fear. Think about it. Feel it.

Your fears can be valuable information for you, but they should be just that—information for you to use.

They shouldn't run you.

Evaluate your fears. Then move through them and bask in the sunlight of your achievement.

The following is from Frank Herbert's book "Dune":

"I will not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past, I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain."

Make it a Great Day!

5.      Do you know about Soul Magic?

Have you ever experienced something that touched you deep inside and left you feeling inspired?

Have you ever had one of those moments where you truly felt connecting to something larger than yourself and realized there truly is a Divine Power?

Have you experienced coincidences, God incidents, or synchronicity?

Then you’ve experienced Soul Magic!   Big or small, Soul Magic are those moments that touch our soul and feel as if there is magic in the moment.

Sometimes it’s hard to put our finger on what makes them special because it’s more of a feeling than the event itself.  That doesn’t make it any less real!   We’d like you to join us in paying attention to the Soul Magic and every day miracles in your life.  Acknowledge them.  Write them down.  And then send them in to SFPNN.

As the editor of SFPNN, I would personally like to extend an invitation to you to share your Soul Magic experiences with us.

You don't have to be a professional writer, just talk into the page and tell us your story!   E-mail:  SOUL MAGIC

Finding The True Me
by Rosemary

Who is it over there?
My sight is leaving me.
It put me in the dark.
I look to find the best,
and have been covered
with this mess.
I try to leave this
and go and hug a big old tree.
With its branches spread,
it is a key to find the true me.
Seek out, find the best
and leave the rest.

7.      Sir Froggie’s Pondering — from Sir Froggie

ARE YOU CONFUSED—OR JUST FEARFUL?

How many times have you found yourself in a difficult situation?  Have you ever had tough decisions to make?  How often do you say, “I’m so confused, I don’t know what to do”?

Are you confused—or just fearful?

Frequently when we’re faced with doing that which we fear, we tell ourselves we’re confused so we can delay taking action.  Yet if we get honest with ourselves, we already know what we should do, we’re just afraid to do it!

We fear the consequences.  We don’t want to hurt someone else’s feelings, or get hurt ourselves.  We fear not being strong enough to follow through.  We fear failure.  We fear ridicule or what other people might think of us.  We fear making the wrong choice.

All this fear keeps us stuck second-guessing ourselves so we feel conflicted and confused.

And we are conflicted!  Because deep down inside we know we should be taking action, but we’re not because we’re allowing fear to paralyze us.

So how do we tell if we’re making the right decision?

We check in with our Divine Guidance, Higher Self, or intuition.  We all have access to this wisdom—all we have to do is ask and then listen for the answers.  Sometimes the answers come even when we’re not asking… especially if we’re about to make a really important decision!

Knowledge from our Divine Guidance, Higher Self or intuition always leads us to what’s best for our soul’s growth.  It is calm, peaceful and heart-centered—even if it’s something that may seem difficult to do.  Fear or ego-based thinking feels anxious and nervous.  It operates in instant gratification and is focused on short-term results.

Divine Guidance is loving and respectful, even when it is saying “no” or that it’s time to move on.  Divine Guidance accepts and acknowledges us and others involved in the situation for who we are.  Ego / fear thinking is critical and frequently disrespectful.  It often demands conditions we or others must adhere to in order to be accepted.  (Setting conditions is not the same as setting healthy boundaries!)

Divine Guidance stays true to itself and repeats the answer until followed.  Ego or fear thinking issues all sorts of what-if-worst-case-scenarios and changes answers accordingly.

Divine Guidance may require us to muster our strength and courage, but we’ll know it’s what we need to do.  Ego or fear thinking will keep us guessing.

Following Divine Guidance, we trust that it will all work out.  We may dread taking action, but deep down inside we know it’s the best choice for everyone involved.  With this knowledge we are able to move forward in faith, and usually discover the consequences of our choices are not nearly as bad as we imagined.  That’s because we listened to Divine Guidance!

The next time you find yourself feeling confused, pay attention.  Ask what you’re confused about.  Then ask what you’re really afraid of.  Next ask for Divine Guidance and listen for answers.

Are you confused—or just fearful?
