Howdy Folks and Good Day!

It’s taken me a few days but I’m getting back into the groove after an incredible weekend at the Celebrate Your Life conference in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Mark and I had wonderful experiences participating in workshops from Alberto Villoldo, Christiane Northrup, Steven Farmer, Brian Weiss, Wayne Dyer, James Van Praagh, Alan Cohen, Sonia Choquette, Marianne Williamson and Doreen Virtue… all under one roof!  And the amazing thing is there were even more speakers and authors we wanted to see but couldn’t fit in!

Each and every one of these authors is more than just talented.  They are gifted healers and have brought much more love and light to our planet in their very own way; and they encourage each of us to do the same.  Each has their own perspective and area of expertise, just as we do.  Although excelling in different areas, what they have in common is serving a higher purpose in the way God has lead them to do.  We can do the same.

One of the neat things about the Celebrate Your Life conference is that all of the guest speakers are available for book signings and even photographs.  They stay in the same hotel as all the attendees, and hang out in the same lobby, lounge and dining facilities.  In other words, they’re real people just like you and me.  The only difference is that they’re making a living at their passion and purpose.   We can too!

Many of the folks mentioned above were on a different path before they became successful authors and speakers.  But they listened to the prompting of their soul and were willing to change course slightly if needed in order to fulfill their purpose.  We all have one mission in common:  to bring more love and healing to our world.  How we do that is as unique as our individual personalities and gifts!

Are you fulfilling your mission?  Do you feel as though you’re on the right path?  Is there something you need to change in order to get in alignment with your purpose?  Are you sharing your individual talents and gifts?  Are you working on creating love and healing in your own life and in the lives of others?

Healing can take place in many forms: from the physical to the energetic and spiritual, to the intellectual or even financial.  What do you feel connected to?  What gift can you share with others?  What gift do you utilize for yourself?   You don’t have to be a best selling author to make a difference!  You just have to be a vessel for God’s love and healing to flow through.  And that’s something each and every one of us can do naturally.

Revel in the glory of who you are and Celebrate Your Life!

Peace, Love, Happiness, Health, Prosperity

A SALAD A DAY KEEPS THE DOCTOR AWAY

Even before turning vegetarian, I’ve always tried to make sure I eat at least one salad a day.  Why?  It makes me feel better!   I seem to have more energy, fewer aches and pains, and I don’t get the after-meal sleepies as much.  Now there’s a new study which actually documents the benefits of eating just one salad a day.

For the record, the study incorporates a meager one cup portion of salad so those of us who eat smaller meals needn’t worry!

Visit http://www.saladaday.org/press_press_release_1-page.asp for the study results.

The website which features the salad study information also has several recipes to inspire you!

http://www.saladaday.org/consumers_recipes.asp

One of the ways I make my salads more enjoyable is by challenging myself to include at least 7 HEALTHY ingredients (fruits, veggies, herbs, nuts, seeds, etc.) in every salad.   These delectable concoctions have become known as my Super 7 Salad!

Here’s a list of some of the things you can include in your salads:

Lettuce & Greens

Red Leaf Lettuce * Green Leaf Lettuce * Romaine Lettuce * Belgian Endive * Spinach * Radiccio * Purple Flowering Kale * Frisse * Swiss Chard * Green Cabbage * Red Cabbage * Bok Choy * Dandelion * Mustard

Fresh Herbs

Italian Sweet Basil * Purple Thai Basil * Dill * Italian Flat Leaf Parsley * Curley Leaf Parsley * Chives * Tarragon * Cilantro * Watercress * Mint Leaves * Marjoram

Root Veggies

Carrots * Parsnips * Jicama * Radishes * Beets

Peppers

Green Bell Peppers * Red Bell Peppers * Orange Bell Peppers * Yellow Bell Peppers * Purple Bell Peppers * Poblano or Pascilla Peppers * Fresh Jalapeńo slices (no seeds) * Anaheim Chili Peppers * Banana Peppers

Other Raw Veggies

Broccoli * Cauliflower * Sugar Snap Peas * Snow Peas * Celery * Mushrooms * Cucumbers * Avocado * Tomatoes (Yes I know tomatoes and avocados are technically fruit but we think of them as veggies!)

Grilled  or Steamed Veggies

Green Beans * Yellow Beans * Purple Beans * Chinese or Caribbean Long Beans * Peppers * Onions * Egg Plant * Asparagus  * Mushrooms * Corn * Brussel Sprouts * Summer Squash * Zucchini * Button Squash * Acorn Squash * Butternut Squash * Frozen Peas (You don’t even have to cook them!)

Cooked Legumes (Canned Beans)

White or Cannelli Beans * Black Beans * Kidney Beans * Garbonzo Beans or Chic Peas * Butter Beans * Red Beans * Great Northern Beans * Lentils

Nuts, Seeds & Sprouts

Walnuts * Pecans * Cashews * Pine nuts * Almonds * Macadamia  Nuts * Peanuts * Sunflower Seeds * Pumpkin Seeds * Sesame Seeds * Poppy Seeds * Alfalfa Sprouts * Broccoli Sprouts * Bean Sprouts * Sunflower Sprouts * Assorted Sprout “nuts”

Fruits

Apples * Pears * Mandarins * Grapefruit * Raspberries * Blackberries * Cranberries * Strawberries * Blueberries * Pomegranate * Mango * Cherries * Grapes * Melon * Kiwi * Star Fruit * Apricots * Peaches * Pineapple

Even if you just pick one item from each of the above groupings, you’ve got 9 things in your salad!   See if you come with anything not already on the list.  You might even want to copy and paste it into a new file and print it out to hang on your fridge so you get inspired to try new things!

Challenge yourself when you go to the grocery store to pick an item you haven’t tried yet at least once a week!   It’s amazing how many choices we have!

Remember, a salad a day keeps the doctor away!

6.      Wednesday WORD      — by Diane, The California Dreamer

LOVE

Love: warm attachment, enthusiasm or devotion, to like or desire actively, take pleasure in, to feel affection or experience desire.

Related words: appreciate, cherish, prize, treasure, value, fancy.

Love can be and not be many things.  Many of us have confused notions about what this word means.  When I truly think about "Love"  it is action to be taken.  And for some of us, it is difficult to open ourselves up to be "Loved" by others, and be the recipient of loving actions.

For some, believing they are worthy of being loved is a difficult lesson to learn and accept.  If you didn't grow up in a loving environment, or if there were not congruencies in the words and actions of your caretakers, it is very hard to learn to love and to accept love from others.  For some, we opened ourselves up and risked loving only to be mistreated or rejected.

It is strange how the universe sends us teachers to help us pass the course and move forward.  When I least expect it or can't imagine I am "Lovable," someone will pop up out of nowhere and show me just how important I am in their life.  Many times, they are friends I am just treating the way I want to be treated.

Loving another person isn't always of the sexual nature.  We can show a warm attachment toward another person and know they also make a difference in our life.  As members of the human race, we have a responsibility to love, appreciate and cherish all forms of life.  This isn’t limited to other humans; it can be for the earth, the water, our environment and animals.

The greatest love I have ever felt has been the Mother - Child Love.  I look back over the years and wonder if I could have ever truly understood what Love meant without having a child.  Without a doubt being a parent involves learning and practicing "unconditional" love each and everyday.  However, the pleasure involved with extending this ever so important action is priceless and ever so lasting.

We can love places and things as well.  There can be certain places we love and have a warm attachment to. We take great pleasure in visiting or even living at that place.

Loving objects might not be as fulfilling as loving another person but we can show and feel a great amount of affection for objects.  We treasure certain things that bring great amounts of joy into our lives.

Love is an action word, we must act in kind and loving ways to get back from the universe the love we so desire.  I have heard it said many times that in order to have love in our life, we must act in loving ways.  For some, that is a difficult task.  For others it is just second nature.

Nothing can make a person happier or more depressed than love.  Why?  Is it because we want acceptance from others? Are we truly willing to risk in order to love and be loved? Are we willing to make acting in loving ways a top priority in our everyday dealings?

Take a few minutes to reflect on the ways that you show love and how you receive love from others.

"In our life there is a single color, as on an artist's palette, which provides the meaning of life and art. It is the color of love."

— Marc Chagall
