So often we look for everything that’s wrong or not going right in our world. We find mistakes others make and certainly aren’t afraid to tell others we were wronged! So here’s a challenge for you that could make this season one of the brightest and merriest of the year…
Look for the good in people!
Instead of seeing what’s wrong, look for what’s right. Try to find things to compliment instead of mistakes being made. Catch folks in the act of doing something right and let them know! Then when you’re talking with friends and family, share how that person did their thing right!
Was your boss in a good mood today? Did someone let you in front of them in traffic? Did somebody hold a door open for you? Did the store-clerk ring up your items quickly and efficiently? Did someone go above and beyond what was necessary or expected in order to help you? Was anyone [extra] courteous to you?
Make it a game and award yourself points every time you notice and compliment others doing something good or a job well done. See how many points you can get in a day, week, or month. Maybe even start a friendly competition at the office, in your classroom, or at home to see who can get the most points for noticing the best in others!
Look for the positive and try to catch folks in the act of doing something right!
Wishing YOU Peace, Love, Happiness, Health, and Prosperity

SFPNNers!
If you’ve ever wondered whether one person could make a big
difference, just ask Matthew Glover of
Matt felt drawn to give bicycles to the Toys for Tots Foundation and started a campaign among his co-workers at Country Wide. Not only did he spark the enthusiasm of his coworkers, but the company he works for decided to match dollar per dollar the amount donated personally from its employees.
With a goal of 100 bikes plus matching helmets (so the kids can ride their bikes legally and safely), Matthew helped raise over $8,000 between his coworkers and Country Wide!
I met Matthew at a local Target store as he was loading up his pick-up truck with the second batch of 16 shiny new boys’ and girls’ bicycles to be donated to Toys for Tots. Mr. Glover was going to each of the stores and buying as many bikes as he could, then personally loading them up for delivery. The personnel at Target seemed happy to help his generous mission!
What a wonderful way to roll in the Christmas Spirit and remind all of us that even one person can make a big difference!

SHARES A MEANINGFUL EXCERPT
From “A Cry for Mercy” by Henri Nouwen
Dear Lord,
Today I thought of the words of Vincent Van Gogh: “It is true there is an ebb and flow, but the sea remains the sea.” You are the sea. Although I experience many ups and downs in my emotions and often feel great shifts and changes in my inner life, you remain the same.
Your sameness is not the sameness of a rock, but the sameness of a faithful lover. Out of your love I came to life; by your love I am sustained; and to your love I am always called back. There are days of sadness and days of joy; there are feelings of guilt and feelings of gratitude; there are moments of failure and moments of success; but all of them are embraced by your unwavering love.
My only real temptation is to doubt in your love, to think of myself as beyond the reach of your love, to remove myself from the healing radiance of your love. To do these things is to move into the darkness of despair.
O Lord, sea of love and goodness, let me not fear too much the storms and winds of my daily life, and let me know that there is ebb and flow but the sea remains the sea. Amen.
~excerpt from "A Cry for Mercy" by Henri Nouwen

2. Wednesday WORD — by Diane, The
I wish
you
This time of year
can be very hectic with parties, social gatherings, church and school
activities, baking and of course, shopping. Many of us don't know if we
are coming or going and our gift list grows as the amount of money we spend
seems endless. We can loose sight of what the holidays mean without even
realizing it.
This holiday is
turning out much different than I thought it would. Being my first
Christmas away from the
Remembering years
past of going crazy trying to figure out what to get others, I was glad my gift
list is a small fraction of what it used to be. It has been a long
time since I went overboard with gift buying. As the years have gone by, my list
is getting smaller and I’ve been thinking about what’s really
important. Maybe it is because I
don't have the pressure of that endless list.
This holiday season
I want to give gifts money can't buy. The greatest gifts truly are things
that are not material in nature but can make all the difference to both the
giver and receiver.
These are gifts
given from the heart and soul. Often these gifts are life changing. The
receiver may have been waiting their entire life to be given exactly what you
can offer. The changes these gifts make are often unseen to the eye
however the results are noticeable once the gift is given.
These gifts have to
be given freely without expectations. When given this way, it is all
about the giver. How another receives our gift is not the reason it is
given, we do it for ourselves. Oddly, the receiver often changes
outwardly and we benefit from it.
These gifts are
very powerful and can change the lives of people we currently know and we
have no idea of the countless others that will be touched in the future.
Here are some
examples.
Time - Give pieces of your time to another. Time is the most valuable
gift you can give and get. Give more of it to others.
Courage - Encourage someone to do something they desire, to follow their dream and
not be afraid to live life to the fullest. Show them how courage makes
all the difference in their life.
Forgiveness - The ability to forget our mistakes or
another's, an eraser to forget our resentments or to give up a grudge we
hold. Don't hold onto a bad memory, wipe out the memory and move on. Make new
memories.
Self-esteem - To be proud of all we have done and
accomplished on our own. Praise another and tell them how proud you are
for all they are today.
Purpose - A reason to live, something to do for ourselves and others. It will
be revealed in time; it may take several holidays to open that gift, however it
is a gift we give ourselves. Through
trial and error, we discover it on our own.
Dignity - Beauty - Loyalty - Cooperation -
Understanding and Mutual Respect for another.
By giving any one
or several of these gifts, you can create one of your best holidays.
Happy New Year!
