Howdy Folks and Good Day!

It’s hard to believe we’ve been back for a week and that we’re already more than halfway through January.

I have some notes to share with you real quick:

First off, THANK YOU for continuing your subscription to SFPNN!   You’re what keeps us going.  We encourage you to share SFPNN with others and greatly appreciate you directing folks to our little e-zine.

Secondly, for those of you who tried to sign up for the Sir Froggie cartoon and either ended up getting the daily issue of SFPNN or were told you are already subscribed, I’m working on resolving this issue.  Currently, our Sir Froggie subscribe button is rerouting folks to the SFPNN list.  Not being a Techie Guru, I’m waiting in line to get help from our web host to clear up this issue.

(BTW, If anyone writes html code and knows how to fix the situation, I’d love to hear from you!)

Third, with the new year we need new stories!   We’re currently accepting – and requesting – stories for Soul Magic, Fuzzy Tales, the Special Edition and Kindness Suggestions.  Please click for specific submission guidelines.

Of course, we always welcome your personal good news to share with our readers!

Next up, Prayer Requests!   For those of you unaware of it, SFPNN has a prayer request page everyone is welcome to use.  Although I will personally pray for anyone who requests it, we also need readers who feel guided to help others by frequenting the prayer page and praying for everyone who has posted there.

And perhaps most importantly, please take a moment to join me in honoring Ed of Aberdeen, who made his soul graduation on December 23rd, 2006.

Ed touched so many people all over the world with his e-mails and positive attitude.  He was truly a blessing to all those who knew him and will not be forgotten any time soon.

Besides being a great person, Ed helped launch SFPNN through his Link of the Week awards program which connected us to some wonderful sites.   Aunt Bette has been doing a GREAT JOB (Thanks Bette) but we wouldn’t have the Link of the Week column at all if it wasn’t for Ed’s original efforts.

I’d say something like, “May he rest in peace,” but knowing Ed, his Spirit is probably busy trying to change the world from the other side!  J  (I wouldn’t be surprised to get a psychic e-mail from him one these days!  LOL!)

May Ed and his surviving family members be blessed and may each of us cherish those we love while we have the good fortune of having them here with us.

WHAT’S THAT WHITE STUFF?

When the driver of a huge trailer lost control of his rig, he plowed into an empty tollbooth and smashed it to pieces.

He climbed down from the wreckage and within a matter of minutes, a truck pulled up and discharged a crew of workers.

The men picked up each broken piece of the former tollbooth and spread some kind of creamy substance on it. Then they began fitting the pieces together. In less than a half hour, they had the entire tollbooth reconstructed and looking good as new.

"Astonishing!" the truck driver said to the crew chief. "What was the white stuff you used to get all the pieces together?"

The crew chief said, "Oh, that was tollgate booth paste."

5.      For A Good Laugh, Check Out Tom R. Oh!

It started so simple, so innocently… Tom fulfilled a promise to write the stories he said he would tell. A man, two dogs and a forlorn tree… Who could have known it would turn into the intriguing series known as "The Christmas Tree Chronicles." Don't be fooled by the name, these twisted tales take you year round!

It doesn't stop there, though. Tom R. Oh is one of SFPNN's most prolific writers with a style uniquely his own and several mini series in the making.

6.      Kindness Suggestion

SHOP AT SEARS TO SHOW SUPPORT
Thanks to Sunny Sky Jan

I just got this in my cancer message board, and it sure made me glad we buy at Sears!

Love, SunnySkyJan

Have you seen the reports about how Sears is treating its reservist employees who are called up?

By law, they are required to hold their jobs open and available, but nothing more. Usually, people take a big pay cut and lose benefits as a result of being called up... Sears is voluntarily paying the difference in salaries and maintaining all benefits, including medical insurance and bonus programs, for all called up reservist employees for up to two years.

I submit that Sears is an exemplary corporate citizen and should be recognized for its contribution.

I suggest we all shop at Sears, and be sure to find a manager to tell them why we are there so the company gets the positive reinforcement it well deserves.

Pass it on.

I decided to check it out before I sent it forward and wrote to the Sears Customer Service Department:

Here is their answer to my email.

Dear Customer:

Thank you for contacting Sears.

The information is factual. We appreciate your positive feedback. Sears regards service to our country as one of greatest sacrifices our young men and women can make. We are happy to do our part to lessen the burden they bear at this time.

Please pass this on to friends. Sears needs to be recognized for this outstanding contribution and we need to show them as Americans, we do appreciate what they are doing for our military!

7.      TAKE THE SFPNN KINDNESS CHALLENGE!

Living through the words of Gandhi, we must be the change we want to see in the world.  We must also acknowledge those who are in the act of creating those changes.   Therefore, we have two challenges for you.

Kindness Challenge # 1:  Do something kind today and every day.   It doesn’t have to be of earth-shattering proportions to make a positive difference.  Simply saying “Thank You” or letting someone know they’re appreciated can have a tremendous impact.   Find little ways to be kind and to make our world a kinder place.  And feel free to tell us about your kind act!

E-mail: “KINDNESS

Kindness Challenge # 2:  Share something kind someone has done for you!   People are kind to us in a myriad of ways on a daily basis.  But we often overlook their kindness.  Become aware of acts of kindness and acknowledge the person performing them.  Then share their kind gesture with SFPNN.

E-mail: “KINDNESS

8.      Moments of Joy — From Joy Hart

Happy New Year!  Songs are flowing through like crazy.  I feel like a pipeline.  This one came through before I could even get out of bed.

clearer channel

As I become a clearer channel for You,
I become more aware of what You want me to do.
As I open up to possibility,
Your love is all that I see.
Let me be a channel through which Your love can flow
Wherever it wants to go.
I'm willing, Oh Lord, to let Your love flow
Wherever it wants to go.

A little later a couple more came through.

SAVOR THE FLAVOR

This is a perfect place to savor the flavor
Of a moment in my life.
Just sitting back to enjoy the feeling
Of simply being alive,
And able to appreciate
All the joys that it contains,
And realize that it's totally up to me
How I experience
Each precious moment that I have
In this gathering of friends.

I WANT TO BE A PIPELINE

I want to be a pipeline through the medium of songs
Through which God's love can flow
Out onto this planet earth
So we will gently know
That we are here to fulfill a purpose
Moment by moment of our lives
Looking to see where we can contribute
Wherever we find ourselves.
Looking to see where we can contribute
As we enjoy ourselves.

9.      The SFPNN Link of the Week – Recommended by Aunt Bette

Sir Froggie's Positive News Network is proud to present
The SFPNN Positivity Link Award to:

THE UNAPPRECIATED ART OF THE SNOWMAN

A sense of humor is the pole that adds balance to our steps
 as we
walk the tightrope of life.
– Proverb

The kind of humor I like is the thing that makes me laugh
for
five seconds and think for ten minutes.
William Davis

Humor is reason gone mad.
Groucho Marx

Today I wanted to share with you a sample of two of my favorite cartoon characters, Calvin and Hobbs, and their take on the use of the beautiful white stuff that comes with those cold winter storms.

I love humor, wit, puns, satire, and conundrums.  I have always been a prim, follow the rules, don’t make waves kind of person and I think that is one of the reasons I like the humorous way that Calvin looks at the world from a slightly different direction; and his belief that his stuffed tiger, Hobbs is real, his friend, and helper in his pursuits.

I wish you a joyful and humorous year; we can’t be half way through January already.

Let There Be Peace On Earth and Let It Begin With Me...
