Howdy Folks and Good Day!

Special thanks to Carole Devecka for helping to inspire today’s greeting!

Did anyone see Oprah’s show on aging yesterday?  It was humorous, entertaining and informational.  Yet, part of me wanted to scream into the TV set.  Why?

Because one of the featured guests who has a new book on aging was scared to death of dying.  I give her credit for admitting this on national television, and for bringing about acknowledgment that the reason for many of our nation’s anti-aging products are about avoiding aging and hence death.

Let me be the first to say, I’m not about to hasten my years here on earth, nor do I encourage anyone to do the same.  I also can’t tell you what it’s like to be in my 50’s, 60’s, or 70’s yet and to be “naturally closer” to my soul’s graduation.

But I can tell you what it’s like to be in my 30’s and approaching my 40’s with what seems like increasing speed.  I can also tell you what it’s like to have faced death and survived, to have held a loved one’s hands during the moment of transition, and to have kissed the forehead of one my dearest relatives and have felt the Universal Energy flowing into them in preparation for their departure moments later.  I can even share messages I’ve received from those on the other side.

But what I really hope I can convey, without any doubt, is that death is nothing to fear.   Death is not the end!  It is not the enemy.  We don’t have to fight it, no matter what age we are.

Death is merely the return to an unlimited Spiritual form.  We all have an energy body that will still be capable of communication, love, joy and so many of the things we enjoy here on earth.

Why does this matter so much?  Why do I feel called to share it with you? Because so many people are so afraid of dying!

Many folks say, “I’m not afraid of dying, I’m afraid of suffering.”  Yet we create our worst suffering any and every moment we allow ourselves to be overcome with and ruled by our fears.

Beyond death there is Love, Light, Beauty, Creation, and Life—Sweet Eternal Life.  If we can move past our fears to accept this, we can actually reduce or eliminate a large amount of suffering for ourselves and others.

Another good reason not to fear death, dying, and aging is because we create what we focus on.  In other words, if we’re focused on what we fear most, we’ll draw what we fear into our lives and help create it!  If we focus on what we truly hope and desire – such as a long life that was well-lived and an easy soul graduation – we’ll create that!

Yet another reason to let go of our fears of getting older and dying is because we’re all going to do it.  Yep.  Every single one of us.  And I say this with the utmost respect because it’s true. We may not know when or how or why.  (And it’s probably better that way.)  But it’s the natural evolution of our lives.  We die, but we do NOT cease to exist!  We continue to evolve in the Spirit realm and can even continue to assist our loved ones here on earth!

But perhaps the best reason to release our fears of aging, death and dying is so we can live fully in this moment, enjoying all the blessings life has to offer right now.

We’ve all done the exercise of “If I only had one year to live (or three months, or even a week or just a day) what would I do?”

Let’s think about it again and ask ourselves:

  • What would matter to me?
  • What have I been putting my time and attention into that would no longer be important?
  • What would I need to do or put in order to help my loved ones cope and get along after I’m gone?
  • What messages would I need to share?
  • Is there anyone I need to forgive – including myself?
  • Is there anything I would regret and therefore change if possible or if I had to do it over again?
  • What are my greatest accomplishments and proudest moments?
  • Have I shared these with anyone?
  • Have I said, “I Love You” to those who need to know it, hear it, and feel it?

If we can face our own mortality and review our lives TODAY, we can then take steps to insure we’re living a life true to our heart’s deepest convictions.  When we break free from fear, we live life all out, 100 percent, no holds barred.  We cherish ourselves, our loved ones, and each moment as the precious gift they (and we) are.

Now that’s a wonderful way to live… and to die when the time comes.

With Peace, Love, Happiness, Health, and Prosperity…

Rev. Jeanette

Then you’ve experienced Soul Magic!   Big or small, Soul Magic moments are those moments that touch our soul and feel almost magical.

4.      Soul Magic

A NOTE from the Author:  When I read Carole Devecka’s story last week called, “Finding the Right Words,” I was really moved by her closing wish:

“May God bless all of you suffering from a loss and may you find that Rainbow in the sky a reminder of God's forever promise... He is with us always. May you feel His love and comfort.”

It reminded me of the following experience when my Grandma made her Soul Graduation.  Thank you, Carole, for reminding me of that precious day with your Rainbow blessing!  And thank you, Grandma, for being with me always.

GRANDMA'S RAINBOW BLESSING
By Jeanette M. Pintar

When I went to visit my Grandma for her 85th Birthday, I didn’t realize she would make her transition that morning!  I was with my Mom when she got the call, around 1:45am.   We went and said our last good-bye, all somewhat in shock and surprised.  After discussing it, we decided we’d tell the rest of the family later in the morning and try to get some sleep.  We didn’t feel it would benefit Grandma or anyone else if we woke everyone up at 2:30am and they went into the demanding day to come without any sleep.

(Grandma had already given us a sign she was fine and with God before we ever made it to the nursing home so were not worried for her.)

Around 7:30am, my youngest sister Tracy called and said, “Mom.  I don’t know what’s going on but I just saw four rainbows in the sky!  When I tried to show someone else, the rainbows were gone and they couldn’t see them.”  Mom told Tracy about Grandma’s soul graduation, and we all agreed the rainbows were Grandma’s way of letting us know she was still with us.  About 15 minutes later, our middle sister Terry called, “Mom, go look outside, there’s a rainbow!”   We all got the biggest smile even as Mom was telling Terry of Grandma’s transition.

Later that evening, instead of having a traditional funeral, we decided to continue with Grandma’s birthday party as planned and took turns sharing stories of how she had touched our lives.  We discovered that at least 5 of our family members had seen rainbows at different points through-out the day!   Grandma always said she wanted to go on her birthday and this was her way of sharing the celebration of her eternal birthday with us in a rainbow blessing.

8.      God Given Daisies       — by Carole Devecka

SAY IT NOW

My mother and I just returned from being with family members who are in mourning after the loss of a daughter, who was also a sister, cousin, wife, mother, aunt, coworker, and all the other things we are to many in our lives and our community.

It was very sad. The children couldn't wake their mother last Saturday morning while their dad was at the dentist. Everyone was in the state of shock most of the week and just went through the motions of getting things ready for a wake and funeral.

During some quiet talk time, many of us wondered what was left unsaid from my cousin to her family. Did she tell them all her hearts desires, all her values and hopes, and anything else she would have told them if she knew she was facing her "soul's graduation" ?

I told them that I have written an Ethical Will. No one knew what I was talking about. Some time ago I read a book called "Ethical Wills: Putting your values on Paper," written by Barry K Baines MD. He is also the creator of the web site www.ethicalwill.com .

It states in the book, as well as the web site, an "Ethical Will" reflects the "voice of the heart". Think of it as a love letter to your family and friends. Every ethical will is as unique as the person writing it.

Some ethical wills contain burial instructions, hopes and blessings, and important personal and spiritual values and beliefs, along with life lessons, messages of love, hope, forgiveness or asking forgiveness, and anything else a person writing this document wants to share with their loved ones.

In addition to these things, I put in a section declaring that I wanted my family to inherit "The Six Pillars of Character" because "Character and Integrity count.” Horace Mann said that character and integrity are "What God and the Angels know about us."

The Six Pillars of Character are:

·        Trustworthiness

·        Respect

·        Responsibility

·        Fairness

·        Caring

·        Citizenship

*A full explanation of each character trait is listed on their web site.

NOTE: The Josephson Insititue of Ethics has classes and training on these ethical values that are the foundation of the Character Counts! Youth-ethics Initiative and can be viewed at www.charactercounts.org.

In closing my "Ethical Will" I not only tell all of my family members individually what they mean to me and how much I love them but I give them some of life lesson's written from my book of experiences and told them to remember: "Life is Fragile — handle with care and prayer.”

What type of things are you leaving to your love ones?  Morals, character and ethics last a lifetime.

Don't leave anything unsaid. You never know the moment when life as we know it will be over.

PS: Say "I love you" as often as you can and smile!
