Howdy Folks and Good Day!

* Special thanks to Diane and Aunt Bette for inspiring today’s greeting. *

Spring is upon us in the northern hemisphere and along with it come a lot of changes.  One of the many changes I’ve experienced is simply my perception of spring.

Growing up in Wisconsin, spring meant my beloved snow was sure to melt into slush and mud.  The weather was still too cold not to bundle up, but not cold enough to enjoy winter festivities like skiing, ice-skating, snowmobiling, or building snowmen and snow forts.  I honestly didn’t get what all the hubbub about spring was for.

Then I moved south to Georgia.  Every day a new tree opened in a beautiful  blossoms of pastel color.  From my eighth story window it was like watching an impressionistic painting unfold before my eyes.  I was also introduced to pine pollen and discovered folks were not exaggerating when they said your car would be covered in less than fifteen minutes during pollen season.  Nonetheless, the daffodils, hyacinths, tulips and blossoming trees amidst azure blue skies and warm temperatures made my heart sing and I finally understood the glory of spring!

Now I’m in California and gaining yet another perspective.  Although somewhat similar to Georgia in climate temperature-wise, there’s not nearly as much humidity and the soil and mountains don’t allow for the same kind of growth as in the Southeastern United States.  Yet it is still beautiful!  The local chaparral which adorns the hillsides has its own new colors… welcoming greens, soft blues and whites, and even a few bright orange fire poppies which survived an unexpected frost.  The wildlife here is amazing and every day for the past few weeks I’ve been treated to the mating displays of various birds.   Everything from humming birds to pigeons to ducks to crows to hawks!  Spring is definitely in the air!

The weather is always changing along with my perspective of it.  Instead of depending on a certain temperature range I wake up and see what the day has to offer.  That can be more challenging than it sounds because we often have a notion of what the day SHOULD be.  I’m all for affirming and creating a positive day ahead, but there’s a gift of grace and ease in allowing it to unfold before us.  Fortunately we can marry the two together by envisioning the best for ourselves and then simply allowing things to unfold, being grateful for everything life has to offer.

I hope you’ll join me in letting this day bring you many blessings as life blossoms before us.

With Peace, Love, Happiness, Health, and Prosperity…

Rev. Jeanette

A Little Door, A Little Light

By Ellie Braun-Haley with Shawn Haley

When Ellie Braun-Haley first heard the voice of her dead son speak to her, she had no doubt he was standing there with her. She recognized the aftershave he had worn and could even recall when they had purchased that particular brand. She knew her son had come back from the dead to visit with her but could she tell others about it? Who would believe that the dead return to speak?

Guided by Heavenly Intervention, Ellie soon learned of others who had similar experiences. Strangers began sharing them with her and as she heard them, her recovery from the loss of her son progressed. As her collection of stories grew, she realized they had helped to heal her emotional wounds and that they could also help other people heal. To know our deceased loved ones could come back and communicate with the living makes the loss more tolerable and provides assurance that there is Life after Death.

A Little Door, A Little Light is a record of communications between everyday people and their deceased loved ones. The stories and the events they describe changed the lives of those who experienced them. It gave them peace of mind and allowed them to know that life continues. Ellie has no doubt these stories will provide peace and hope for anyone who has lost a loved one or who has lost faith.

INTRODUCING NATURAL HABITAT ADVENTURES

One of the things I’ve always enjoyed is traveling to new places, meeting new people and experiencing new landscapes and wildlife.   (I even worked in the travel industry for a few years!)   So when I saw an ad for Natural Habitat Adventures with a slogan of “Discover the Power of Nature,” I had to check it out.

It’s pretty cool!   If you enjoy adventures into nature and seeing wildlife, you might want to take a look.  I can’t say they’re the least expensive way to travel but their prices for the Galapagos were actually very reasonable compared to what I’ve seen from other companies. And they have some really neat looking nature excursions all around the world!

SFPNN does not get a kickback or anything like that if you book a trip.  I just thought it was a great idea to create vacations specifically geared toward interacting with or viewing wildlife on a global scale and wanted to share it with you.  Here’s the link:

THE SACRED SITES

For those of you who cannot travel or have no intention of doing so, you can still visit some really awesome places on-line through THE SACRED SITES at:  http://www.sacredsites.com/ .

This is one of the most incredible websites I’ve ever seen and has remained one of my favorites throughout the years.  If you love to vicarious travel through photos and learn about the most fascinating places on earth, I highly recommend The Sacred Sites!

Martin Gray, the author and photographer of this website has visited over 1000 Sacred Sites in 80 countries around the world!  Not only does he have amazing photos, but his descriptions are interesting and informative. Check it out for yourself.  You’ll be pleasantly surprised!

Happy Trails,

Jeanette

7.      Wednesday WORD — by Diane, The California Dreamer

SPRINGTIME

"Sit quietly, doing nothing; spring comes and the grass grows by itself."

— Zen saying

In most parts of the country spring is arriving. Springtime is a time of transformation.  A time of new birth and new beginnings.  We might have one cold day then the next is warm; and each day it is getting warmer and warmer.  Showers seem to be the norm and flowers are peaking out of the ground.

The void of what seemed to be a very long winter is almost over.  This happens every year and yet every year I am in awe of the new buds appearing, the beauty of the greenery that is everywhere and I look forward to the flowers being in bloom.

Everywhere is an outward affirmation to believe in new beginnings and that things change without any effort from me. Yet at times in order to change, I have to put forth much effort and trust that the changes I desire are worth what I’m putting forward.

Life is full of pleasant surprises. Many surprises just happen and I have to be open to noticing them… such as the sound of birds outside my window or the smell of the earth after a shower.

Is it springtime in your area?

Do you have to strain to notice the changes or are you naturally aware of your surroundings?

Are you in the process of a transformation or new beginning?

Celebrate the new season and celebrate your life!

The next time you go outside, notice what is all around you.  Enjoy!!
