Howdy Folks and Good Day!

You may notice today’s issue of SFPNN pertains to valuing the small things in life… from index cards to our dreams!   Where it’s certainly valuable to have the big picture, the little details and simplest ideas are also of the utmost importance.

A lot of folks want to write a best selling book – including me.  In fact, I have several manuscripts in my computer with everything from cookbooks to poetry, song lyrics to children’s books, spiritual fables to "Sir Froggie’s Ponderings 101."

I sometimes wonder how I accumulated all these stories and potential books.  Then I realize it was because of a small commitment to find one good thing a day.  That one good thing a day nine years ago turned into the issue of SFPNN you are now reading as well as a website with over 25,000 files on it, at least eight featured authors, and global distribution!

Had I focused only on the dream of getting a book published "big-time" SFPNN would not exist.  I would have missed the opportunity to learn and grow with hundreds of wonderful people around the world… even though my original list only included about 30 friends and family members.  But something told me I needed to make that little commitment.  So I did.  And what happened as a result is nothing short of a miracle!

Would I have a best selling published book already if I weren’t working on SFPNN every day?  Maybe.  Maybe not.  There are no guarantees except for the ones we make to ourselves.

I certainly haven’t give up my dream of authoring several best selling books. In fact, I feel more prepared now than ever before as a result of the little dreams I attended to… Like doing SFPNN and allowing myself to explore new writing styles, as well as deciding to continue my education.  My curiosity about healing work with energy has opened new horizons for me and will contribute greatly to my knowledge and writing abilities.  Everything started with a tiny, little, "what if..." idea.

All the little baby steps I’m taking are strengthening my spiritual muscles, my inner core, and sense of Self.  When the time does come to get those books published, I’ll be ready!  In the meantime, I’m working on the little things!

How about you?  What little things are vying for your attention?  Do you hear them call and beckon to your heart?  What small steps can you take to satisfy the yearnings and promptings of the soul?  What little shifts can you make in your daily life?

Small degrees of action can change the trajectory of our lives in a big way!

With Peace, Love, Happiness, Health, and Prosperity…

THE LOWLY 3X5 INDEX CARD

I love technology and I'm fascinated by what it allows us to do. And I have a good bunch of cool tech toys—I mean tools. They help me operate more efficiently and effectively. They're also fun.

But some of the simplest and cheapest tools we have are often the best.

Abraham Lincoln wrote the Gettysburg Address on the back of an envelope. Imagine: one of the greatest speeches ever given was written without the help of a typewriter, a word processor or a speechwriter—not even a nice piece of paper.

They were simple words, well written, well delivered and well received.

I find the simple 3x5 card as being one of the handiest instruments in my efficiency toolbox. I use them for many things.

I'm confident that if President Lincoln had had 3x5 cards, he would have written his famous address on several of them.

Even though I have a Palm Pilot, a notebook, a PC and a scanner, I use 3x5 cards extensively. I keep them with me all the time. They fit in my shirt pocket and in my checkbook. I keep them on my nightstand, in my planner and on my desk.

They're easy to write on and they're easy to file.

I write down affirmations, quotations, ideas, addresses—even jokes.

Of course, most I throw away after I've used them or transferred them to my PDA or desktop. But many I file away in inexpensive card file boxes.

Every once in awhile I go through them looking for ideas and quotes. An idea that may have been impractical or untimely may now be appropriate. Or the idea may trigger a different one that can now be easily implemented.

They're great for jotting down the key ideas for a speech or a presentation. When using several of them, you can rearrange them easily.

Write your goals on them. Keep your mission in front of you. Jot down a quick to-do list. Put your affirmations on them and carry them with you everywhere—with ease.

You can buy them in different colors if you like. You can get them lined or plain. They're cheap to buy, easy to use and they're worth their weight in truffles.

If you don't use 3x5 cards, give them a try. See for yourself how something so simple and so plain can be so productive.

5.      Sir Froggie’s Pondering — from Sir Froggie

LITTLE DREAMS CAN MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE.

What’s your dream?  How close are you to fulfilling it?  Have you allowed yourself to begin yet?  There’s something you should know…

Little dreams can make a big difference.

Our culture has a tendency to want things BIG.  The bigger, the better.  And our goals and dreams are no exception.  We don’t just want to write that book, we want to pen a best seller.  We don’t just want to sing our song, we want to reach the Top 40 and preferably the number one slot with a Grammy to boot.  We don’t just want to act, we want to be on Broadway or in the next major box office hit.  An Oscar would be nice, too!

There’s nothing wrong with dreaming big so long as we also allow ourselves to dream small and recognize the value in our smaller goals.  Little dreams are just as worthy!

Too often we cut ourselves off before we allow ourselves to begin. Our goals and dreams are so grandiose, they seem impossible to reach from where we are.  We don’t realize we’re allowed to dream small, and can make a big difference starting from right here, right now.  We think, “Oh, I’ll never be good enough to make it professionally,” so we don’t even take the beginner’s class.  Listening to the ego’s tirade about having to make it big for it to be worthwhile and succumbing to fears of not being good enough we give up and try to squelch the dream within.  But dreams die hard.  And they’ll keep coming to the surface until we allow their expression and fulfillment.

Where is it written we must succeed professionally at something in order for it to be of value?  Where does the law state we have to be the biggest and best?  Who says we can’t make a big difference with our little goals and dreams?

Let’s use acting as an example.  The desire to be a star calls many talented actors.  What most folks don’t realize is they are meant to shine wherever they are, not just in Hollywood or on Broadway.   Ask most aspiring actors what they want for their career and they’ll tell you they want to make a positive difference in the world through the roles they play.  If they could just get cast in that one big movie, that one successful play, they know in their heart they could really help a lot of people.  And they could!

What we forget is how much we can help people one on one, or even within a small community.

Say an actor is from a small town in Wisconsin where there isn’t even a community theatre!  Yet the drive and desire to act is etched into the person’s heart and soul.  Obviously, a move to New York or Los Angeles is required, right?  Not so fast!  What if this talented actor decided to get involved with school youth groups and put on plays through the school?  What if this person’s passion for acting influenced others to follow their own passions or to try acting?  What if they put together plays to teach spiritual messages in the town’s place of worship?  What if they rallied together, creating the town’s first community theatre troupe – then obtained funding and built a community theatre?  And what if this community theatre drew people in from neighboring villages and towns and inspired them to feel good about their lives and their community?

Obviously, a community play is NOT going to get as much exposure as a Broadway production.  But that doesn’t mean it won’t have a tremendous impact!

Should the small town actor give up the dream to make it big?  Not at all!  But they should examine all the options and understand “the big time” isn’t the only place to succeed.  A good rule of thumb is to search one’s heart and soul to figure out where you can make the most difference.  A lot of actors converge on New York and L.A.; how many dream of going to small towns?

No matter where we are, we have a unique gift and talent to contribute to the world around us.  It doesn’t matter if our world is one person, one family, one town, one nation or one global community.   Any time we express our gifts, use our passions in a positive way, and allow our true Light to shine, we make a difference!  Hold on to the big dreams, but don’t over look the small ones!

Little dreams can make a big difference.
