Howdy Folks and Good Day!

Over the summer, I was afforded the opportunity to do on-going group tele-coaching with Lisa Nichols.  Lisa was featured in The Secret and interviewed on Oprah, Larry King, and several other shows.  The thing I liked about her was that she just exuded Love and you could see the God energy in her!  So I was really excited to get to participate in this program.

I was listening to last week’s call just like any other when Lisa started talking about the different muscles God helps us build.  For instance, if we have a lot of things we’re afraid of right now, God is helping us build our Courage muscle.  If we’re dealing with not feeling worthy or putting others first, God is helping us build our Self Love muscle.  And if we have anger, resentment, etc., God is helping us build our Forgiveness muscle.

Our assignment was to identify which muscles we are building.  Doing a lot of self work on an on-going basis, I didn’t anticipate any surprises.  But when Lisa started talking about forgiveness, I felt my solar plexus chakra tighten up.  My gut literally cringed.  What was going on?

I immediately remembered something that had happened ten years agoHow could that be?  I’d forgiven everyone involved a long time ago.  I’d even sent them Love for goodness sake!   And should the topic ever get brought up, I don’t intellectually or emotionally have a negative reaction.  So WHY was my body responding to this incident with a sense of UN-forgiveness?

I asked for Divine Guidance and immediately was given an answer.  Although I had cleared out the emotional and intellectual aspects of this issue, my body was still holding on to some physical un-forgiveness energy!

Come now!  How can I have un-forgiveness energy if I’ve cleared out all that stuff and have forgiven everyone, including myself?

Because I cleared it out intellectually and emotionally but didn’t release it physically! Every time we experience stress, especially in the form of negative emotions, it releases toxins into our body.  If we don’t physically clear them out, they get stored up.  And they begin to create aches, pains, and lethargy.

OH…  I guess that would explain some things.

So I’ve been working on physically and energetically releasing the un-forgiveness energy from my body.  And you know what?  I’m feeling better than I had been in a long time!  I still have some more clearing work to do, but I’m making progress.

For those of you who feel tired and drained all the time, try this experiment.  Put your hands on your heart and/or solar plexus chakra.  Think the word “Un-forgiveness” (or even "forgiveness") and see what happens.  If you tighten up anywhere in your body, what images, thoughts, or words come to mind?

If nothing, good for you!  In fact, GREAT FOR YOU!!!!  YOU GO, FRIEND!

But if something jumped in there, well, there’s a little more forgiveness work to be done.  And that’s OK because once you are aware of it you can take action to release it.  Maybe you need to talk to someone or write them a letter to speak the words of forgiveness.  Or maybe, like me, you’ve already done the intellectual and emotional forgiving but just had some stored up energy in your body to release.  In either case, do what you can to clear it out, let it go, and release yourself from its affects.

In building up your forgiveness muscle, you’ll also build up another very important muscle… Self Love.  (Incidentally, this experiment works with any emotional issue!  Try it with anger, fear, jealousy, etc., and see what happens.)  Love Y-O-U enough to only store the best within.

With Peace, Love, Happiness, Health, and Prosperity…

THE TRUTH: THE VIRTUAL BOOK TOUR

Greetings!

I have had such a fun time these last few weeks with the virtual book tour for "The Truth, I'm Ten, I'm Smart and I Know Everything!"

Having the opportunity to discuss the main character and the certain truth she understands about happiness has been a great experience.  We forget so much of our childhood wisdom. We forget the excitement and enthusiasm that comes from letting our passionate natures come out to play. And we forget how to laugh, laugh from our bellies.

We forget how to intensely react to daily life. So often we forget how to have fun. Many of us don't allow the playful part of ourselves to come out. We don't know how to let out, safely, the imp inside of us. And we forget how proud we can feel about ourselves.

This girl's truth may not be exactly your truth, but the girl has the power to stimulate, reminding us of our talents, our dreams, our wisdom and our resiliencies.

I would like to offer you a chance to purchase "The Truth, I'm Ten, I'm Smart and I know Everthing!" at a 30% discount until the end of September.  Visit The Enchanted Book Store to purchase.

SILENCE OF THE ERASERS

I don’t know what possessed me to do it.  It just seemed like the thing to do at the time.

It was the first day of 5th grade, and Mrs. Stallings was distributing school supplies.  A handsome older woman of considerable dignity and poise, Mrs. Stallings had a way of making this routine procedure seem stately and ceremonial.

“You must take very good care of these materials,” she said pointedly as she placed a new box of Crayola Crayons (16 – count ‘em – 16 colors!) on each desk.  “They must last the entire school year.  If you lose them or damage them in any way . . .” – she paused for dramatic effect – “. . . you will need to replace them yourselves.”

I caressed the green and yellow box on my desk, gently opening the front flap so I could look at the brightly colored crayons with which I had been endowed.  Is there anything more lovely, more inspiring, more filled with untapped potential than a fresh box of crayons?  I pulled out my favorite color – blue – and studied its sharp-but-flat tip.  I wanted to begin using it immediately to color countless skies, bluebirds and blueberry pies.  At the same time I wanted to NEVER use it – to preserve it in all of its gloriously pristine waxiness.

Think of it as the 5th grade version of environmentalism.  Without the trees.

Mrs. Stallings then placed a new ruler on each desk.  As 5th graders, we could now be entrusted with the more mature rulers that had a thin strip of metal on the side to help you trace straighter, truer lines.  Of course, this meant the end of the ruler-sword fights we used to conduct regularly as 4th graders.  The thin metal strips on the sides of these new rulers had pointed edges that could actually be dangerous in a duel.  But we had outgrown ruler-sword fights.  We were 5th graders.  Somehow we were suddenly more interested in drawing straight, true lines.

And girls.  We were MUCH more interested in girls.

Finally, Mrs. Stallings brought two brand new No. 2 pencils to each desk.  I felt something almost spiritual as I ran my fingers up and down the smooth, yellow shaft of each pencil.  No tooth marks.  No chips in the paint.  And on the tip of each was a fresh, clean eraser.

As one who always had ample need for erasers, these held a special place in my 10-year-old heart.  I tweaked them.  They felt like good erasers.  I smelled them.  They smelled like good erasers (for the uninitiated, fresh, unused pencil erasers smell almost as good as Elmer’s Glue).

And then, for some unknown reason, I bit them.  Right there in front of Mrs. Stallings and everyone, I bit the erasers off the ends of my new No. 2 pencils.  Don’t ask me why.  To this day I can’t explain it.  One minute I was holding the pencils so carefully in my hands – savoring them, cherishing them – and the next minute I was playing Hannibal Lecter on the erasers.

“Mr. Walker!” Mrs. Stallings gasped.  “What on earth are you doing?”

Immediately, the attention of the entire classroom focused on me.  I could feel my face flush as I fidgeted on my suddenly way-too-hard desk chair.  My friends were laughing and the girls were giggling.  My mind raced as I struggled to come up with answers to two pressing questions: why DID I do it, and what do I do with these two rubbery eraser tips in my mouth?

Reflexively, I gulped and swallowed the erasers.  Then I smiled as brave a smile as I could muster.  “I guess I was hungry,” I said weakly.

Everyone in the classroom laughed – except Mrs. Stallings.

“Very well,” she said coldly.  “Now that you’ve had your lunch you won’t mind staying here in the classroom with me while the rest of the students go to the lunchroom.”

As a chubby kid for whom school lunch was the high point of the day, that was a tough punishment to take.  Even worse was her insistence that I use the two eraser-less pencils until they were no longer usable.  Whenever I needed an eraser I had to walk all the way up to her desk to borrow her joke eraser.  It was huge – about seven inches long and four inches wide, and it had these words printed on it: “For really BIG mistakes.”

Like mine – even though it seemed like the thing to do at the time.
