Thanks! Now on with today’s greeting!
* * *
So often we dream of what we could do, should do, would do, if only…
If only we had more time… If only we had more money… If only we had more talent… If only we weren’t so afraid!
One thing we need to realize is that those who are doing what we dream of didn’t start out with everything in place before they began. They had time constraints, financial challenges, doubts and fears too. But they decided to do it anyway!
If someone had told me nine years ago that I’d be writing a daily column (this greeting), editing for other authors as well as a university, distributing a daily e-zine, operating a website, writing book reviews, talking to angels (and getting answers!), helping other people heal, and preparing to teach classes, I would have laughed out loud. My thinking at the time would have said, “NO WAY!”
Afterall, I didn’t know how to do ANY of it. Nor did I have the means for someone to teach me. I certainly didn’t think I’d be able to learn everything on my own. And quite honestly, I couldn’t have.
But I did what I could at the time, which was to find one good thing a day to mail to about 30 friends. They loved the idea and got in on the act! And would you believe most of them are still reading and supporting SFPNN today?
Back then my faith was just developing. I wasn’t sure what God wanted from me but I had learned to listen to those inner promptings. I still remember laughing when I told my husband Mark, “I don’t know why but I feel like I just committed myself to something much larger than I know! I have no idea what could come out of some silly e-mail to a few friends, but I get the feeling I better hold on for the ride.”
Boy, was that true! Sometimes it’s that very feeling of what we want to do being bigger than we realize which scares us away. Are we good enough? How will we be able to handle it? We don’t even know what IT is and already we feel scared.
IT can be whatever you want it or need it to be. Maybe it’s trying your hand at a poem, a short story or a love letter – to yourself or a loved one. Maybe it’s taking that leap toward forgiveness or interviewing for that job you just know is meant for you even though it would require relocating. Maybe it’s simply getting out of bed in the morning or gathering up the strength and courage to leave your home for the first time in a while.
What IT is to you doesn’t matter as much as recognizing that God will help you through it no matter what your fears are telling you. Fear is kind of like a dense cloud. It looks real solid at first glance, and it’s hard to see through. If you get caught up in it, things can get very turbulent. But if you keep moving, it turns out that it’s just a gathering of air. You can bust right through without any damage being done! And once you’re on the other side, it’s perfectly clear!
What have your fears kept you from trying? Do you recognize the fear clouds in disguise? You know the ones… the voice which says you can’t afford it, or you’re not allowed, or you’re not smart enough, or that you must be an expert before you can begin… These are all fear In disguise! Again, they’re like a cloud which may appear solid but if you keep moving forward you’ll bust right through it.
Here’s to spreading our wings, making it through our fear storms and allowing ourselves to learn how to fly!
With Peace, Love, Happiness, Health, and Prosperity…
Rev. Jeanette

Inspiring
Lunchtime
By Patty
When your life is in sync and you do not allow any negative or unhappy thoughts, people or circumstances to invade your space, the breathtaking and unexpected gifts of nature and God are there just waiting for you to enjoy and lift your spirits… If you just take the time to look.
I have the privilege of working in an environment which allows me to spend my lunch hour exploring the surrounding forest preserves at my place of employment.
Today the weather was gorgeous, and that’s an
understatement. We are just ending
summer and waiting to say “fall” here in the
As I was driving to the walking trail today I had to slow down my car because a white tailed deer, strong and majestic, crossed the road in front of me and pranced away. That was how my lunch hour started!
I’m very blessed to see this on a daily basis. I usually carry a camera in my work bag every day because there is a herd of white, fallow deer that roam the grounds where I work as well as the white-tail deer that we are all used to seeing. I have captured many pictures in different seasons of the fallow deer and just this past summer had the privilege of seeing the baby fawn frolicking with its parents.
I decided to try a new trail which was created about a year ago that I had not yet explored. I parked my car at the trailhead and started down the path, not sure what to expect. As I walked along railroad tracks, I thought, “okay, it’s peaceful and there are not as many trees as the other trails that I usually take, but it’s not very warm and I didn’t need the shade.”
I crossed paths with a man walking in the opposite direction. He was swatting something away and when he approached me he said, “there are an awful lot of butterflies here!”
As I headed away from the tracks into open fields the
scenery took my breath away. There were
acres of sunflowers, wildflowers, and grasses as far as the eye could see! The
contrast of the colors was striking and gorgeous: purple, yellow, green,
orange, and tan. For a moment I felt
like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz as she was walking through the Field of
Poppies on her way to the
I had passed the pond on my way in, but didn’t pay much attention. Now as I walked by I stopped to look at what I thought was a duck. There were at least four to six turtles sunning themselves on the log. Where was my camera?! I couldn’t believe I did not have it with me.
Butterflies were everywhere, hundreds of them! They were on sunflowers and they were flying in the air, solo and in small groups. I had to pinch myself and say out loud what a beautiful day and inspiring moment I was experiencing in the middle of this busy work day.
Needless to say, I went back the very next day with my camera and captured many inspiring photographs that I now have on my desk at work.

the butterfly photos!
I thank God every day for my job. These are the small things that make me appreciate what I have in my life right now… Peace, serenity, happiness, joy and love for my work, family, friends, and a very special someone who is a big part of the reason I have such blessings in my life.

When the Week Seems Two Weeks
Long
I just came to realize that I started writing for SFPNN in October of 2002. Gee! Time just flew by!
Not really. Some weeks seem to be two weeks long. Others seem like a month flies by. This week I also came to realize it has been an entire year without me telling the story of what happened with my school/summer camp/ day care centers, etc.
I know a few of you are wondering… I know because you write and ask me about it. My answer to those who wonder why I got side tracked is, "Life has a habit of getting in the way!"
I also believe that God directs each of us to write about different things at different times. It amazes me, how many of us connected with SFPNN write on subjects that are all inter-connected on the same day. Or, it seems to be the "Theme of the Week." Yet, none of us ever discusses what we are going to write about with each other.
God's timing is always perfect.
Speaking of that, this past week I went to visit my mother, and drop off her daily medications, earlier than usual. When I walked in, she asked me if I heard the message she left on my home answering machine. I said, “No, I haven't been home.”
I noticed her right arm was stiff and I asked her if she was feeling OK. She answered "I think I have to go to the hospital." Thinking she was either having a stroke or a heart attack, I immediately gave her baby aspirins.
On the drive to the hospital she was feeling much better and could move her arm. It was still hurting but she could move it. They kept her in the hospital for two days and checked everything out.
Yes, she did have a mini-stoke and a seizure that caused the stiffening of her right side. But, there are no residual effects of the mini-stoke.
My mother will be 90 years old on October 5th. It is a blessing to have her with us each day, even when the days drag, and the week seems two weeks long.

A NOTE from the Editor: CONGRATULATIONS, CAROLE! (And you were concerned you wouldn’t have enough to write about!!!) Thanks for all you do… Not only for SFPNN but for everyone in your corner of the world, which with your love and being a willing instrument of God, seems to expand all the time! Keep up the GREAT work!
So glad to hear you’re mother is okay! She’s blessed to have you watching out for her.
Back to our readers, I just loved
Carole’s comments on how God’s got perfect timing and directs
each of us to unknowingly write on certain themes. You see, all of
SFPNN’s authors live in different states all around the
And yet there are times when I’ve placed certain stories for Soul Magic or The Special Edition, etc., months in advance without saying a word to anyone. The day comes when it’s time to put that issue together and one of our authors will send a story out of the blue which is completely related to the one that was pre-placed months ago!
It’s always a surprise to me – at least in some ways. In other ways, I’ve come to rely on the mini-miracles God creates on a regular basis. I hereby officially give thanks to both our authors and our readers for being instrumental in those miracles taking place.
Congratulations and thanks again, Carole!
