Howdy Folks and Good Day!

There’s a lot of stuff going on in the world today, as there is every day.  Some of it’s life-giving, healing, loving, and miraculous.  Some of it is absolutely devastating.  What are you tuned into today?

Many people I’ve encountered in the Los Angeles area in the past few days have reported feeling a bit “off” or anxious and stressed.  With regular TV broadcasts interrupted for (much needed) continuous coverage of the wildfires, smoke-filled skies, road closures and everyone knowing someone who is in an area affected by the wild fires, it’s no wonder folks are on “high alert.”

In a way these anxious feelings are a clue to the gentle, caring and sensitive nature of the human species.

It’s GOOD that we FEEL when things are off or not as they should be.

It’s good our intuition is tuned into the world around us and recognizes when someone is hurting or feeling lost or is danger.

I’ve heard many, many mothers say they just KNEW when something was wrong with one of their children, and upon following that hunch, discovered they were correct just in the knick of time.  The same intuition that helps moms protect their kids helps the human race protect our people, wildlife and planet.  We FEEL when something is off.

We feel it until we do something about it.

If pain is a call to action, when things just feel off and our intuition is on high alert, what are we being called to do?

Sometimes the action is just to acknowledge our feelings and where they came from.  “I listened to the news and was really moved by that story.  It truly pulled at my heart.”  This acknowledgment may be the only thing needed to experience a sense of release or relief.

Other times, taking action may include processing those feelings – perhaps by writing in a journal about them or talking them over with a friend or counselor.

Occasionally acknowledging and processing our feelings makes us realize we’re being called to get involved in some way.  Other times there’s no processing required; we just KNOW we MUST do SOMETHING immediately!  But what?

The same wisdom which alerted us to things not feeling right will also guide us to find the ways we can get involved if we feel called to do so.

That involvement may be something as simple as praying for others and truly believing in a positive outcome for them.

Or it just might be “the calling” to get in our cars, head on out and meet up with a shelter or agency where we can volunteer our time and efforts.

Perhaps the action we feel called to take could be leading us into an experience which will truly bring us to fulfill our life’s purpose.

Or maybe it’s just a little yank at the heart strings to make a donation and then go about our day doing what was needed at that moment in time.

The important part of all of this is to really tune in.  What’s in our heart?  What’s on our mind?  What kind of Divine Guidance or intuitive hunches are beckoning us?  They are always there!  Are we listening?

As scary and overwhelming as the world can appear sometimes, there is no shortage of kind, generous, loving people!  Including YOU!

Just think of all the people who’ve made a difference to you, who’ve given you a hand when needed most, or even made such a simple gesture of kindness as giving directions to the next freeway ramp.  Even when there is ample turmoil in our lives, love, joy, and compassion can be found in great abundance.  The world is filled with good people, people who care and who allow themselves to feel.  People who do good deeds and take action when guided.

What are you feeling today?  What are you tuned into?

Thanks to all of our readers for being the good decent caring people you are.  Thank you for taking action when your intuition guides you.  Thank you for making a positive difference in our world.

With Peace, Love, Happiness, Health, and Prosperity…

Rev. Jeanette

Here's a thought from the great American newscaster and cancer survivor Linda Ellerbee:

There are two types of change: the change we choose, and the change that chooses us.

It's empowering to choose change and see our lives get richer and deeper as a result.

It's even more empowering, when change chooses us, to choose how we respond to that change. We can wail and moan and gnash our teeth - or we can accept it with ease and grace by asking, "Show me the blessing here. How does this change benefit me?"

Would you like to know how to do that right now? If so, say "Yes" out loud right now* and feel the energy flowing in through the top of your head.

Now, notice how you feel. Notice what's different about your life in the coming week. And celebrate it!

That's your Miracle Minute with Moira Shepard. See you next week. Have a miraculous Monday!

7.      Wednesday WORD — by Diane, The California Dreamer

OBSERVATION

"In the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make."
— Paul McCartney

First of all, I would like to thank all my friends who have emailed and called to check on me and make sure I am ok.  At this point, I am safe both at home and work.  My heart goes out to all those who have lost their homes and all their belongings.

To piggy-back on last week's article on "perception" this week is about "observation."

I have now found my special place at Leo Carrillo Beach in Malibu where I like to go for long walks to gather my thoughts or clear my head from a busy life.  I put on my headset with relaxing mediation type music and walk my special route.

My walk last Saturday was no different from any other walk I've taken recently.  It was another beautiful warm, sunny Southern California kind of fall day.  There were surfers in the water, birds on the rocks and people on the beach.

What was different was my "perception" of my surroundings and the "observations" I made.  It was like I was looking through a different set of eyes.

The waves looked different; they were layered and appeared to have more foam as they loudly crashed to shore.  The surfers even seemed to ride them differently.  I was told later the waves were different due to the strong Santa Ana winds.

All the people on the beach were in their own separate worlds.  There were wind kites being sailed, kids running back and forth with the tide coming and going, and sun bathers on towels and blankets basking in the sun.  There were people walking their dogs and throwing sticks into the water for the dogs to catch.  What I noticed most was people weren't looking at me or really at each other.  We all seemed to be doing our own thing.

Another unusual observation I made was that every time I looked at my watch — even though it felt like a long time had passed in-between — it had only been five minutes. I realized time goes by very slowly at the beach.

It felt like time was standing still.

Which brought me to the most important "observation.  I was truly in the present moment.

I wasn't in yesterday or planning or worrying about tomorrow.  I was in the "NOW" -- observing and taking my current surroundings in completely.

I left the beach completely relaxed and refreshed.  I was not down there more than an hour and a half, even though it felt like hours.

Oddly, this was just twelve hours before the fires started in Southern California.

This has been my first encounter with a situation like this and it has been quite scary having just been to the beach and living within 16 miles of Malibu. The smoke and ash are still hanging around my area.

These Santa Ana winds really are quite strong and I am ever so amazed watching just how far a tree can bend without breaking.  Another thing I’ve observed is how the sky can be the eeriest color of yellow when the sun is coming through the smoke.

People say these fires happen often with the Santa Ana winds each year. I don't believe anyone can really be prepared for the devastation fires of this size cause.  I might not be next to a "hot" spot or have been evacuated from my home, but with the winds shifting, I realize I could be. None of us knows exactly what will happen to us or when.

I’ve been thinking about what truly is important to me. At one point I left my house with the thought that everything in there is only "stuff."  What matters to me are the people in my life...those who have made the effort to call saying how concerned they are about my well-being.

It really is about how we live our lives and not what we have in our life materially.

Do you know what really is important in your life today?
