Howdy Folks and Good Day!
If you sent e-mail between yesterday and November 08th and do not
hear back from me by the end of the day tomorrow, please resend it if it’s
important!
If my mailbox got too full while we were on vacation, it just bounced e-mail without necessarily alerting the sender of this fact and I have no way of telling whether or not it did.
I’m wondering what our world would be like if our body and mind had a “bounce” function in them… What would happen if when we reached a certain point, we simply would do no more and would have to take a rest and get caught up. All additional requests of our time, energy, thoughts, and emotions would get bounced until we came to a point of being able to take on more.
Hmmmmm…
Did anyone get a slight knot in the stomach thinking about that? But I have to be there for others… What about my kids? My boss? My pets? My significant other?
What about me?
The truth is we can’t give to others when we’re empty. We need to take care of ourselves and occasionally (or even frequently) that might mean saying NO even though we’d like to be able to help.
We don’t have to be rude when we say no; we can say it with compassion and empathy. Maybe even direct those requesting help to someone else who may be available. We also don’t need to be the kind of person who never helps anyone else. But we do need to be able to help our Self maintain a sense of balance and know when to quit or take down time before we reach over load.
Here’s to setting a “bounce” function in our lives when needed.
With Peace, Love, Happiness, Health, and Prosperity…
Rev. Jeanette

CREATE
SPACE!
Does your life flow? Is your health good and your stress level low? Do you have room for expansion?
Create space!
We’ve been conditioned to fear space because we mistakenly perceive it as empty, as a vacuum. And as they say, “all of nature abhors a vacuum.” What we don’t realize is space is actually the energy which breathes life into us, the current on which creativity and inspiration flow, the peace, relaxation and sense of connection we’re looking for.
Space is not empty. It is energy. The very energy which connects and creates all matter. This energy gives us life, helps us breathe, and fills us with ideas and divine guidance. It soothes our soul. But too often we’ve been taught to equate space with scarcity, whether that’s lack of things or lack of love. We fear being alone. We fear not having enough. When we have space, these fears crop us and make us feel stressed. This stress constricts our body, mind and spirit. So we erroneously think the “emptiness” is what makes us feel so lousy. It’s the emptiness which actually fills us to overflowing with love and unlimited possibilities!
Think about a typical day… We rush about from here to there, trying to cram everything in, get it all done, and never take time to breathe. Life feels like it’s compacting tighter and tighter around us. There’s no room in the schedule to slow down, to enjoy life, or even provide basic self care. It’s so constricting it gets overwhelming and can often result in impeded health such as high blood pressure, headaches, heart problems and more. But what if we took that typical day and learned to put some space in there… to clear out a little time for self care, to make some breathing room?
Taking time to meditate and clear one’s mind creates space between our thoughts. It slows us down. It lets us breathe. It lets us just be… Be peaceful. Be well-rested. Be inspired. Be creative. Be rejuvenated and revitalized. That’s because the space we’re creating when we meditate and breathe is actually allowing the life force to expand within us. And it feels good. Very good.
Just like energy flows better in a room that isn’t cluttered so too does it flow better in a heart and mind that isn’t cluttered. We need to make “down time.” We need to allow our “being-ness” to just expand and breathe into our bodies to cleanse, purify and detoxify all the stress and chaos that constricts us throughout the day.
Meditation doesn’t have to be done an hour at a time. Taking two minutes to breathe here, or five minutes to calm our mind there, or just stretching our body for a moment to release tension can all help. So can taking a walk, eating lunch outside on a nice day, soaking in a bathtub, exercising or doing yoga, Pilates, Tai Chi, or Qi Gong. The point is to allow ourselves some space for Spirit to work within us, rebalancing and creating a sense of being centered.
Making space for ourselves may require some changes in the way we do things. If we’re always on the run, we might have to learn to slow down. If we’re constantly on the phone, we may need to shut it off during certain time periods. If our to-do is longer than our today we may have to eliminate a few things. If our living spaces are filled to overflowing we may have to reduce clutter and give things away.
We need space – breathing space, living space, just being space.
Create space!
