Howdy Folks and Good Day!

Just a quick reminder that this is the last week of SFPNN’s distribution for the year 2007.  We will return in mid January of 2008.

* * *

As you reflect back on the year, take a moment to think about what you’ve learned – or maybe even relearned or un-learned.

We learn things in a lot of different ways.  Sometimes we learn from books, movies, TV, DVDs, the internet or even a formal school setting.  Other times we learn from talking to people.  Most often the lessons with the greatest impact come from our personal experiences.  Hopefully the experiences are positive ones, but that’s not always the case.  Either way, the lessons are valuable.

This year I’ve had the experience of learning on every level and in every way.  I’ve felt like a great big sponge soaking it all up to the point of being saturated.  With this saturation I’ve squeezed out the things that didn’t work for me or which needed “un-learning.”  The result is feeling like I’ve been filled up in a very positive way.  Not to mention the benefit of all the lessons learned!

The lessons have had a general theme of healing with love.  They’ve come to me both from example of what to do — and also of what not to do.

Folks, our words, attitude, energy, love and empathy are so important!  They can literally make all the difference in our world!

We don’t have to agree with others to be kind, loving and supportive.  We can have differences of opinion yet still send the healing balm of love to those we care about.  And even to those we’ve never met before.

How do we “send love” to others?

Words are one very powerful way to send love.

But it’s more than the words we speak which have the ability to heal.  It’s the way we speak them… the attitude, tone, and energy we put into them.  It’s the feeling of love and support we convey through them.  They may be “only words” but they truly can make a tremendous difference.

Another way to send love is to literally generate the feeling of love within our hearts and let it expand outward to all those we encounter.

Sending love from our heart sometimes takes a little practice because the mind can get rather judgmental (even in very subtle ways) and block out those feelings of love.  It’s good to become aware of what’s in our mind as well as what’s in our heart and learn to make a conscious choice to generate love.

Our body language can send love.

A pat on the back, a good hug, a kiss (whether romantic or a peck on the cheek), holding a hand, smiling, and making positive eye contact are all ways of generating and sending love to others.

Our actions are incredibly powerful way to send love.

When we interact with others, do we treat them with kindness, love and compassion?  Do our actions show we care?  Are our actions respectful?  Do they create a sense of trust, closeness, and appreciation?

Everything we do or say has the ability to hurt or heal others.

While many self help books and 12-Step programs will (correctly) tell us that we don’t have the power to control what others think or feel, we do have the ability to direct loving kindness their way.  Becoming aware of our actions and choosing to say and do those things which are healing in a loving and kind way can have a tremendous impact on another’s life – as well as our own.

As you consider the lessons you’ve learned this year, I hope the lesson of choosing healing love and kindness will stay with you.  Because YOU, my Friend, are genuinely a beautiful soul with a brilliant mind, incredible spirit, and powerful ability to bring healing to this world through your loving words and actions.

May God bless you and yours today and every day

With Peace, Love, Happiness, Health, and Prosperity…

Rev. Jeanette

holiday changes

For some reason, this year the holidays have seemed more magical than most.  Family, friends, and neighbors seem to be filled with the Christmas spirit. Even the store clerks have been friendlier. I’ve felt it in my heart, and I’ve literally felt it in the air all around me.  There’s an inexplicable beauty to it all.

Unlike some of the recent commercials would have you believe, it’s certainly not about money.  Or maybe in a strange way it is.   You see, at the end of October, the company my husband Mark had been doing full-time freelance editing with for over 3 years told him things were getting really slow and they wouldn’t have work for him.  Then the writer’s strike began and the industry slowed even more.

On top of that, we just bought our first home a year and a half ago and the mortgage was quite a bit higher than we expected.  Our broker assured us we’d be able to refinance in just a few months as the value of our home went up, however the market crashed and even though we’ve been paying regularly, we have little or no equity so refinancing is not an option.

We also ended up with an unexpected car payment when my husband was hit while stopped at a red light on his birthday back in August.  Thank God he’s OK, but his car was totaled.

Under the circumstances, it would be quite understandable if Mark had totally stressed out and been rather ornery the past few weeks.  Similar things have happened before.  And I have to admit, he wasn’t too pleasant to be around.

But something changed this year.

I can only call it a miracle of faith.

Despite the mortgage, the car payment and all our other bills, despite the dire news of lack of work, Mark held the vision that it would all work out!

Instead of putting his effort and energy into panicking, getting upset and stressing out, he prayed.  Then he called a few folks he knew around town.  He interviewed and he took on new projects.  Now he’s got more work than he can physically do and had to turn down some jobs.

As scary as it was during the few weeks’ interim when we didn’t know how we would pay our bills or where the money would come from, Mark kept the faith.  Perhaps because he DID know where it would come from… the money would come from God, the Creator, the Source of all that is.  He didn’t know how yet.  But Mark knew it would come… and that was a big change from the past.

We’re still not 100% certain where Mark’s primary income will stem from beginning in 2008.  But it’s not because of a lack of work.  Quite the contrary.  It’s because he’s got a few different options to choose from!  That’s a nice change from being told there wouldn’t be anything for him.

With or without the blessings of abundance and prosperity, the best change of all has been in Mark’s attitude.  He truly put his faith, his love, and his family first even when he had good reason not to.   Having been on the receiving end of this change, I have to say it has been a beautiful and welcoming gift.

In fact, it may very well be a magical Christmas miracle.

Thank you, Mark.  I’m so proud of you… Not only for providing for us, but for truly changing and putting your Love and Faith above all else.  I see the changes and I see your true Spirit shining through.  Please know that I love you, respect you and support you in all your endeavors.  Thank you for being YOU.

And thank you for this year’s holiday changes.

7.      Tuesday Trivia

Failure:  Joseph bragged to his ten older brothers about his dreams of future power, prompting them to throw him into a pit and sell him to Ishmaelite traders.

Success: Joseph, according to the biblical book of Genesis, interpreted the dreams of the Egyptian pharaoh, who then appointed him second-in-command.

8.      God Given Daisies       — by Carole Devecka

All Wrapped Up

During the holiday season our organization "Helping Hands Loving Hearts" runs the gift wrap department at the local mall.

In between doing the actual gift wrapping, we are talking with customers about the organization which helps children suffering from a catastrophic illness who live in our area.

This is an especially hard time for most of those parents who would like to make the holiday special for their really sick child. Many lack funds for just day to day living, and it is even more difficult for them during the holidays. They lack time, sleep and energy, as well as money.  So, we try to help them, in any way that we can.

If you really want to be blessed this Christmas, help a family with a special needs child.

It doesn't cost much, just a little time and offering to lend a hand, wash a dish, or wrap a gift.

Be blessed not stressed this holiday season, help someone. God will bless you with extra time, extra finances, extra gifts, and extra blessings.

Give a Helping Hand, with a Loving Heart, all wrapped up. Give YOU as that special gift this Christmas.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Carole and family…
