Howdy Folks and Good Day!
We all have belief systems but we rarely stop to examine them except when they
are challenged. Some of our beliefs support our continual growth, faith, and
wisdom; some of our beliefs hold us back.
Beliefs can cause us to “believe” in ourselves or to be fearful.
Here’s an example…
A lot of people (especially women) are very uncomfortable going out to eat by themselves. They don’t want people to “notice” them or think poorly of them. They believe it looks bad to be by yourself.
In high school I worked for a movie theatre and often
started work right after school and didn’t finish until well after
Now that I’m married, many of my single friends assume I always do things with my husband, Mark, including going out to eat. But Mark’s profession often demands long hours and truth be told, I go more places with myself than with Mark.
Notice I said WITH myself and not BY myself?
That represents a difference in my belief system than that of some of my single friends. They are still uncomfortable going places BY themselves. They feel alone. They worry what people will think. Or what it looks like to others. They also assume I don’t understand. But I really do.
I know what it’s like to feel lonely. I also know the difference between feeling lonely or not is whether I’m BY myself or WITH myself. My belief is that I’m NEVER alone, regardless of whether other people are with me or not. For one, I’ve got my higher Self with me. I’ve got God with me. I’ve got my angels with me. I’ve got my memories with me. I’ve got my thoughts and emotions with me. Stop already! I need some space!
Another reason I don’t fear loneliness is because when I go WITH myself somewhere I know I will meet other people. Always. Even when I’m not trying to and could really use the alone time to connect with God and myself. All I have to do is smile and let my positive energy flow through and somehow I just always end up talking to people.
You know something else? There are ALWAYS other people who’ve gone places alone with themselves to meet up with! In fact, on the rare occasion I do feel lonely, I go out to the coffee shop or someplace else I know other people will go on their own, too.
There’s over 4 billion people on this planet. How can we be alone?
Well, we can choose to be lonely. And we can allow our ego’s fearful belief system to over-ride the truth to convince us we are alone.
Beliefs, whether true or false, impact how we see ourselves and how we experience life. If we believe we are lonely or people will think poorly of us because we are by ourselves, then we will experience that. Even if others talk to us, even if no one thinks poorly of us at all, our mind will be convinced of the worst and we will experience our own judgments believing they are other people’s.
Whether or not we accept others’ beliefs about ourselves (especially strangers’) is another part of our belief system! As a teenager I could have accepted the elderly woman’s (well-meaning) judgment of being a “poor dear.” But my beliefs about myself are stronger than others' beliefs about me. I don’t have to accept what others might say or think. I can just be grateful for who I am and what I am blessed with. I saw my ability to eat – whether it was with myself or others – as a blessing. I had no reason to pity myself and every reason to be proud I was earning enough income that I could afford to buy my own meals.
Our beliefs, whether subtle or obvious, truly create our experiences! And they’re sometimes hard to pin point.
Think about the things you’d like to do in life but haven’t allowed yourself to experience. Ask yourself "why?" What’s your underlying belief?
Is it about the money? That’s a belief too. We can all start a savings fund for our dreams, even if we only put aside a dollar a week. “Where there’s a will, there’s a way” is a much more effective belief than “I can’t do it because I don’t have enough.” I’m not saying go into debt for what you want (although that may be an option for some) but I am saying make the decision you CAN do it and count on finding the way HOW to do it later if you’re not sure right now.
What judgments do you have about yourself? About others? Again, ask yourself why. Why do you feel that way? Why do you believe what you do? How much of it is truth and how much of it is personal judgment or opinion? Where did those judgments and opinions come from? And where did THOSE judgments and opinions come from? (It’s amazing how much the media and our families influence what we think about how we should look, think, act and speak!)
Often we get down to our base belief systems and it’s really all about fearing we’ll be alone because we’re un-loveable or not good enough. You want to know something? Those beliefs are lies!
Because we are
We are
Every single one of us has our own redeeming qualities. Yet
truth be told, we need nothing to redeem us.
The simple fact that we are here, alive on this planet, means God
created a miracle to get us here and we’re here for a reason. (Whether or not our birth seemed intentional
or accidental, it was a DIVINE
And no matter where we are in our lives, what we look like, how we grew up, what choices we’ve made in the past, how much money we do or don’t have, or what we’re doing right now, we all have the gift of divinity within us. We are all worthy and deserving of good.
And here’s the bonus: We all have the ability to manifest new beliefs and new blessings into our lives!
But it starts with believing.
What are your beliefs? Which ones work for you? Which ones hold you back? Which beliefs give you peace of mind? Which beliefs take away your peace? Which beliefs contribute to your health, faith, love and feeling good about yourself? Which ones don’t?
Now is the perfect time to reinforce the beneficial beliefs and to use the beliefs which are blocking you as a roadmap for change.
Believe in yourself. God does… So do I… Now it’s up to you.
Just believe!
With Peace, Love, Happiness, Health, and Prosperity…
Rev. Jeanette

AN ATHEIST IN THE WOODS
An atheist was walking through the woods.
"What majestic trees! What powerful rivers! What beautiful animals!” He said to himself.
As he was walking alongside the river, he heard a rustling in the bushes behind him. He turned to look. He saw a 7-foot grizzly bear charge towards him.
He ran as fast as he could up the path. He looked over his shoulder and saw that the bear was closing in on him. He looked over his shoulder again, and the bear was even closer. He tripped and fell on the ground. He rolled over to pick himself up but saw that the bear was right on top of him, reaching for him with his left paw and raising his right paw to strike him.
At that instant the atheist cried out, "Oh my God!"
Time Stopped.
The bear froze.
The forest was silent.
As a bright light shone upon the man, a voice came out of the sky. "You deny my existence for all these years, teach others I don't exist and even credit creation to cosmic accident. Do you expect me to help you out of this predicament? Am I to count you as a believer?”
The atheist looked
directly into the light, "It would be hypocritical of me to suddenly ask
you to treat me as a Believer now, but perhaps you could make the
"Very Well," said the voice.
The light went out. The sounds of the forest resumed. And the bear dropped his right paw, brought both paws together, bowed his head and spoke:
"Lord bless this
food, which I am about to receive from thy bounty through Christ our Lord,
Amen."

For a Good Laugh, Check out
It started so simple, so innocently… Tom fulfilled a promise to write the stories he said he would tell. A man, two dogs and a forlorn tree… Who could have known it would turn into the intriguing series known as "The Christmas Tree Chronicles." Don't be fooled by the name, these twisted tales take you year round!
It doesn't stop there, though.

Kindness Suggestion
OFFER TISSUES
Thanks to Frieda of
Today I witnessed a rather poignant gesture of kindness being offered.
I was sitting in the health clinic in
An Arab lady was sitting near a Russian lady, who burst into tears as she sat down. After a few moments the Arab lady offered a handful of tissues to the Russian lady, who turned them down.
But the beauty of what I had seen certainly gave me a good feeling and made me realize that despite all our differences, there are basic kindnesses in each and every one of us!

TAKE THE SFPNN KINDNESS CHALLENGE!
Living through the words of Gandhi, we must be the change we want to see in the world. We must also acknowledge those who are in the act of creating those changes. Therefore, we have two challenges for you.
Kindness Challenge # 1: Do something kind today and every day. It doesn’t have to be of earth-shattering proportions to make a positive difference. Simply saying “Thank You” or letting someone know they’re appreciated can have a tremendous impact. Find little ways to be kind and to make our world a kinder place. And feel free to tell us about your kind act!
E-mail: “KINDNESS”
Kindness Challenge # 2: Share something kind someone has done for you! People are kind to us in a myriad of ways on a daily basis. But we often overlook their kindness. Become aware of acts of kindness and acknowledge the person performing them. Then share their kind gesture with SFPNN.

7Moments of Joy — From Joy Hart
Thinking about a whole new year brought this song to me.
clean
slate
Each moment is a clean unsullied
slate,
In which possibility exists.
If we keep releasing and letting go,
Who knows where we might end up.
Our only limits are what we believe them to be--
That’s the truth for you and me.
Each moment is a chance for more of you to burst through
And become more than you’ve ever been before.
Because each moment is a brand new slate
In which possibility lives.

Most of us equate success with money. Then we see so many people who are considered “successful” but from their actions have the appearance of being very unhappy.
Now, I don’t think there is anything wrong with having lots of money but those who have it and are happy seem to have and live by a different set of values…
Values like integrity, gratitude, learning, giving, joy, etc. which create their happiness from all the goodness and positive actions they take. They align with those values and the money follows.
Money and misery, or money and happiness? It doesn’t seem like a hard choice.
I am grateful for all our readers and I send you Joy, Delight, and Wisdom to fuel your happiness.
