Howdy Folks and Good Day!

Editing SFPNN for almost ten years now and being married to someone who edits film and television professionally I’m very well aware of how much of a story often gets cut out.

For example, I may condense a story eliminating anywhere from 25 to 500 words or more depending on how it’s written and the message being conveyed.  Or I might break it down into multiple parts shared over several days, highlighting only pieces of it at a time to emphasize particular points.

When Mark edits, he can take FOUR HOURS worth of footage and cut it down to TWENTY MINUTES!

We tend to believe we’re getting the whole truth or the entire picture when we see things on TV or read books, but we’re honestly only getting a small part of the picture.  This is especially true with many of the news station broadcasts.

Recently, I heard Dr. Wayne Dyer share his experience of going to Lourdes, France, on a spiritual journey.  In Lourdes, from April to October, 15,000 people gather every evening to march through town to the healing waters.  Folks carry candles and walk shoulder to shoulder.  Those with the greatest need for healing are brought to the front of the line.  People come from all over the world speaking different languages, yet there are no interpreters, and no one is in charge of the entire process.  People just come together peacefully in faith to help heal others and be healed.

After his awe-inspiring evening in Lourdes, Dr. Dyer turned on the news and was shown about 100 people violently clashing in a turbulent region of the Middle East.  In that moment he pondered how the media could show just 100 people engaged in destruction of human life that one day but never ever mention the 15,000 people who come together EVERY evening, every year, from April to October to save human life.

It’s a good question!  Wayne also said he believed for every one act of evil there are at least a million acts of goodness in our world.  I agree!

They say seeing is believing.  We believe what’s on TV and in books, magazines and newspapers because we see it!  The challenge is learning to SEE the good things which are sometimes so commonplace we overlook them… just like the floorboards or molding at the bottom of the wall.  Good deeds are every where.  They are there every day of our lives.  They’re serving a purpose and a function.  But we might fail to notice them.  Or we could be looking right at them simply not realizing they’re actually a good thing – just like those floorboards.

Today, I challenge you to notice all the good that surrounds you. Give thanks for every smile, every hello, every hug, every compliment, and every blessing.  Take nothing and no one for granted.

Thank God for all the people who make your life possible.  If you’ve got a moment, start contemplating all those who DO make your life possible.  If you really let yourself expound on this you’ll be amazed!

When you see the whole picture, you may come to realize there’s a lot more to be grateful for in life than you were previously looking at.  And that’s some good news – no editing needed!

With Peace, Love, Happiness, Health, and Prosperity…

Rev. Jeanette

3.      What kind of day will today be?

The kind of day we make it!

A little pro-active positive programming can go a long way in creating our heart’s desires.  All of our thoughts have energy.  Energy attracts like energy.  Think about your desires for today. What would you like to experience in the next 24 hours?   Allow yourself to see it manifesting in your mind’s eye and feel it happening in your body so the energy of your thoughts and emotions draws it to you. Affirm it on the lines below!

Today, I desire and experience…

My car

This guy in L.A. buys a brand new Mercedes, and as luck would have it, he pulls up to a stoplight next to a guy with the same car. They eye each other and the other guy says, "You got a phone in yours?"

"Yes, I've got a phone!"

"You got a TV?"

"Yes, I've got a TV!"

"You got a bed in yours?"

"A bed??? No!" he replies dejectedly.

The light changes and they take off.

Their brief exchange was really working on the guy. He thought he had everything!

He turns around and drives straight to the dealership and tells them he wants a bed put in. They tell him that Mercedes don't come with beds, but the man was adamant and demanded a bed be installed. Finally, they said they'd figure out a way.

The guy picks up his car and for the next two weeks he drives all over L.A. looking for that other guy to show him that he had a bed, too.

He finally spots the car in a parking lot and pulls in beside it. He gets out and knocks on the window. No answer. He knocks again. No answer. He starts to walk away when the window rolls slowly down a bit and the guy growls, "What do you want?"

He says, "I got a bed in my car!"

The guy replies, "You got me out of the shower just to tell me that?"

A NOTE from the Editor:   Living in the L.A. area, just down the road from a Masserati / Ferrari dealership I found this very humorous!  A lot of folks who want the “end-all be-all sports car” would test-drive them by our home. It was quite obvious they had never driven a stick-shift before!

After a while, these exotic sports cars just blended in with all the other cars and seemed like a normal part of the scenery.  It wasn’t until friends came to visit and were astonished to see a Ferrari “in real life” that I even noticed them again.  Incidentally, the Ferrari was next to an extended SUV style limo with a hot-tub and dance-floor in it!  Not quite a shower and bed, but pretty funny to see in a "car."

Even though there are many famous producers, directors and actors in our region, the thing I notice most is the beauty of the mountains, ocean and landscape.  I love seeing the smiles on the children’s faces at the park and the joy it brings their parents.  My breath is taken away by the hawks which soar overhead on the wind currents. And the songs of the coyotes soothe my ears and enchant my imagination.  I’m glad the only thing working me over is my gratitude!  J

(FYI: Yes, this IS the same book that was featured on Oprah Wednesday!  If you’ve followed the link and wonder why it looks different, it’s because it’s actually the “gift edition” which has wonderful artwork to make the book’s positive messages really come to life.)

6.      For a Good Laugh, Check out Tom R. Oh!

It started so simple, so innocently… Tom fulfilled a promise to write the stories he said he would tell. A man, two dogs and a forlorn tree… Who could have known it would turn into the intriguing series known as "The Christmas Tree Chronicles." Don't be fooled by the name, these twisted tales take you year round!

It doesn't stop there, though. Tom R. Oh is one of SFPNN's most prolific writers with a style uniquely his own and several mini series in the making.

7.      Kindness Suggestion – Thanks to Ellie Braun-Haley

Taking the Time to Care
by Dianne

I was in a Revy store on the McLeod Trail searching for a protective piece I needed to replace on a halogen lamp. A salesperson set out to help me locate it but after some ten minutes I realized they didn't actually carry what I needed. The salesclerk was not daunted in her task. She began searching through parts from previously defective lamps to give me what I needed. I was so pleased by her attitude and helpfulness. So many others would have just said, "No we don't carry that!"

On another occasion I was in Wal-mart in Shawnessy in Calgary looking for three green coffee mugs to complete my set. I was more than pleasantly surprised by the courtesy and efforts of the service I received.

A young girl in housewares got on the phone to two other Wal-mart stores in the search for my coffee mugs. She kept a professional attitude when one of the stores left her on hold twice for a very long time only to have someone finally answer that they couldn't understand her initial request. The sales clerk was wonderful and during this time I watched her juggle her attention to help two other customers. I walked away from that store grateful to a most fabulous lady for all her efforts on my behalf. Customer service is alive and well in this city.

8.      TAKE THE SFPNN KINDNESS CHALLENGE!

Living through the words of Gandhi, we must be the change we want to see in the world.  We must also acknowledge those who are in the act of creating those changes.   Therefore, we have two challenges for you.

Kindness Challenge # 1:  Do something kind today and every day.   It doesn’t have to be of earth-shattering proportions to make a positive difference.  Simply saying “Thank You” or letting someone know they’re appreciated can have a tremendous impact.   Find little ways to be kind and to make our world a kinder place.  And feel free to tell us about your kind act!

E-mail: “KINDNESS

Kindness Challenge # 2:  Share something kind someone has done for you!   People are kind to us in a myriad of ways on a daily basis.  But we often overlook their kindness.  Become aware of acts of kindness and acknowledge the person performing them.  Then share their kind gesture with SFPNN.

9.      Moments of Joy — From Joy Hart

This is kind of an interesting way to look at who we are.

incognito

Incognito, that’s what we all are,
Incognito, spinning around on a star.
We are each a part of one being,
Pretending to be on our own.
We can never be separate
From the life that sustains us all,
And is the primary ingredient
That makes us who we are.

10.      The SFPNN Link of the Week – Recommended by Aunt Bette

Sir Froggie’s Positive News Network is proud to present:

* The SFPNN Positivity Link Award *

 HAWAII'S OUTER KINGDOM

http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/ngm/0510/feature4/index.html

Photography, as a powerful medium of expression and communications, offers an infinite variety of perception, interpretation and execution.
---Ansel Adams

What is a scientist after all? It is a curious man looking through a keyhole, the keyhole of nature, trying to know what's going on.
---Jacques Cousteau

Don't ignore the small things -- the kite flies because of its tail.
— Hawaiian Proverb

Today’s website takes a look at some small things that we have never seen before.  It’s a photographic exploration of the most northwestern islands of the Hawaiian Island chain, which are only open to scientists.  Tourists are not allowed on these islands.

After reading the short article, click under the yellow bird, on the left, on the words “Experience the Outer Kingdom”.   You are in for a treat of seeing the detail of some beautiful creatures.

They show their photos by isolating the subject against a neutral background so that you actually see all the detail of the subject and it really does bring the small things of the subject to the eye, that you would not see if it were against the background colors of its natural environment.

I hope if you have extra time you’ll explore some of their other photograph articles.
