Howdy Folks and Good Day!

Yesterday I had an absolutely wonderful day!  Nothing earth-shattering or spectacular took place, but I allowed myself to be fully present and truly enjoy each moment.

Having some odd dreams through-out the night, I let myself sleep a little bit longer so when I did get up I felt more refreshed and a lot less achy.  I had more energy and took care of several things I’d been meaning to do for the past few days… making a big salad for the rest of the week, pruning and watering the plants, putting out fresh nectar for the humming birds and a few other odds and ends.

I kept getting the urge to go to Chocolatine, a local tea-room featuring luxurious hand-made chocolates and French pastries.  (I may have even dreamed about it.)  The chocolates there are exquisite!  They infuse the milk used in the chocolate with herbs such as lavender, rosemary or ginger and they absolutely melt in your mouth.  I could literally taste the lavender chocolates in my mouth and decided to grab the book I’ve been studying and head on out.

With the temperature in the upper 70’s, I had the convertible top down and was treated to the sight a beautiful red-tailed hawk soaring above.

My time at Chocolatine was joyful, peaceful, relaxing and productive.  I read twice as much as I hoped to and savored every bite of my lavender chocolates and two apricot filled cookies, along with a decaf brevé cappuccino.  I left feeling refreshed, rejuvenated and joyful.

I feel happy just thinking about this perfect yet simply wonderful day.  And I have even more to be happy about!

You see, I’ve got some GREAT news to share with you...

We have a new
SFPNN Featured Author!

Please join me in welcoming Patty to the SFPNN Featured Authors team!

You may recognize Patty’s name from some of the Soul Magic stories she’s written recently.  Patty loves to travel and share her beautiful photos and experiences so it was only fitting that she take over the SFPNN Travel Page.

In fact, our entire travel section has gotten a face lift and a new objective!  It’s now called the SFPNN Vicarious Travel page and the focus is on sharing our travel experiences so all of us can vicarious travel at our leisure.

Patty also has some great tips and tricks for making the most of your real life travel adventures and has included some great tools on the new Vicarious Travel page.

We still have photos and stories which were submitted previously, but Patty will be adding to the Travel Page on a fairly regular basis, at least once a month!

SFPNN readers are located all over the world and we encourage all of you to submit photos and stories about your travels – and your hometown!  Who knows?  Your hometown or city could be someone else’s vacation destination!  Or simply a delightful Vicarious Travel adventure.

Continue to watch our Wednesday Good News section for updates from Patty!

With Peace, Love, Happiness, Health, and Prosperity…

Rev. Jeanette

NO!  LET ME DRIVE!!

Journal Entry from 02/05/08

Ok, so as each day passes my life seems to be speeding up faster and faster.  And I really did try to let God drive and just go along for the ride from the passenger’s seat for awhile.

And at the worse possible moment I reached over yesterday and grabbed a hold of the steering wheel and our car went spinning out of control until it came to a dead stop, pointing back towards the way from which I have come.

And I had to sit there for a long time contemplating…do I really want to go back to what I know because it is safe…or do I want to let God help me turn this car back around and keep going forward towards where I wanna go, even tho I don’t know exactly how it will unfold?

To be honest, I was rather pissy and told God I would get back with Him in the morning because as He is well aware…

NO!  I don’t wanna go back.

But I am NOT TOO CRAZY at this moment about going forward either!

So…let me sleep on it and I will get back with you in the morning!

So I woke up this morning and told God ~ Fine.  Let’s go forward.

And what I got back was… Dude, just keep looking out the front windshield.  Focus on where we are going.  I’ll point out when you need to look right or left or backwards for info.  Just stay focused on where it is we are going, relax and enjoy the ride.

So, we are all in the car again.  God’s driving.  I am in the passenger seat.  And isn’t this lovely?

But this time, I am putting on my seatbelt!

Because I know me and I will grab for the wheel again…I am hoping the seatbelt will hinder me some.  I also hope next time I am able let go, even if it is only in the nick of time, before we have to spin out of control and come to a complete stop again.

Yeah…course correction while still going forward…that would be nice!

Plus the other way just makes me way too dizzy and un-centered.

I know that I don’t want to go back.

I know where we are going.

I just gotta let go and let God really drive, which stinks because I really do love to drive!

That and I really just need to sit back, white knuckles and all, and learn how to enjoy the ride.

Oh goodie, won’t this be fun.

I am either gonna make it to the other side…or die trying…because I am not going backwards!

And you can take that to the bank, Lisa Vaden.

Until next time,

Lisa

PS: When you become angry, anxious or scared…

A great book that can help you with releasing the stress is my book May I Have This Dance, Little One? God’s Whispers.

6.      GOOD NEWS from SFPNNers!

INTRODUCING PATTY AND
THE
NEW SFPNN VICARIOUS TRAVEL PAGE!

Greetings to All:

Let me introduce myself and tell you how I came to be the new Vicarious Travel author.  I am related to Diane, author of the Wednesday Word.   Diane was married to my brother.  We have a very long history together. She followed her dream when she accepted a job transfer to California and left her roots, her family and friends in Chicago.  Diane was an extremely encouraging, positive, motivating voice during my divorce and subsequent dating adventures.

When I wrote a story about my Second Chance at Love for the Chicken Soup book contest, Diane suggested that I also send it in to SFPNN.  I did, and since then have written five more short stories that have been published in SFPNN.   After reading one of my Soul Magic stories about a travel experience, Diane suggested I contact Jeanette to see if perhaps I could write a weekly or monthly article about travel.  She boosted my confidence when she said “you are becoming quite the SFPNN guest author and you are very good.”

I thought about whether or not I could handle the challenge and decided to meet it head on, writing a monthly travel column.  Challenges make us grow and to learn more about ourselves and might even bring out hidden talents that we didn’t think we had.

So now I find myself responsible for creating and maintaining the SFPNN Vicarious Travel Page that I hope will entertain with stories, pictures, tips, suggestions and virtual travel experiences to be enjoyed by all.  Watch for new articles to be announced in the Wednesday Good News section of SFPNN!

I personally invite you to stop by and visit the new Vicarious Travel Page at: http://www.sfpnn.com/Vicarious_Travel.htm.

All the previously existing Vicarious Travel links will remain on the new page, and more will be added as they come in, so please do not hesitate to send in your pictures and short stories.  Just e-mail me at Patty!

There are a lot of places I have never been yet and might not get the chance to visit, so it would be great to get a sampling from all over the world to make this page captivating and fun.

Just added are photos of and stories about New York City, Ellis Island, and Chicago!

Also be sure to check out Our Tips and Suggestions for the Well-prepared Traveler  and Links to Travel Information

A great big “thank you” again to Diane and Jeanette.  I am thrilled to be a part of this wonderful network of positive people and the amazing website that Jeanette has created to bring us all together.

HAPPY 2 YEAR ANNIVERSARY, DIANE!

Congratulations to Diane, the California Dreamer!

I could hardly believe it when Diane mentioned to me that March 1st marked two years since she packed everything up and moved to California, fulfilling a life-long dream.

My husband Mark and I have had the privilege of watching Diane adjust to her new surroundings, face challenges head-on, struggle and triumph, and evolve spiritually and emotionally in leaps and bounds.

She’s been quite an inspiration in many ways; and in other ways she has mirrored back to me the areas I need to evolve in.  For this and so much more, I say:

THANK YOU, Diane!   Congratulations and Happy 2 Year Anniversary!  You did it, my friend!  You really made your dreams come true – and continue to do so with each passing day.  Way to go!  Keep on dreaming!  You truly are a California Dreamer – and a master manifestor.

With much Love, Gratitude and Respect,

Jeanette

8.      Wednesday WORD — by Diane, The California Dreamer

The Courage to Reinvent

"If you have the courage to take the risks, to say, ‘I'm going to reinvent this part of my life,’ you can be very, very happy."

— Susan Moliari

March 1st marked a very important day for me.  It was my 2 year anniversary of moving to Southern California.  Now many might say "So? Why is that a big deal?” It is a big deal to me because that was the beginning of my new life -- the next best half of my life!

I realize I have reinvented this part of my life.  I did it - nobody did it for me.

I have discovered that it took a lot of courage to change my life by moving alone to an entirely new part of the country.  It might as well have been another country all together.  I had major culture shock once I got settled.  And every now and then something still shocks me.  Not as much as it used to, but nonetheless, I do get shocked. Most days, I feel like I have always lived here and can't imagine life before moving here.

I have found that by taking the courage to follow my dream, ignoring the nay-sayers and people who tried to talk me out of moving, I allowed myself to bloom more than I ever would have in Chicago.  Not that my life in Chicago was bad by any stretch, it was just a life.

My soul knew I was finished there, my heart knew I needed to move.  Can't quite explain it, other than I knew deep inside there was something more for me.  And that something more would be found in California.

In reinventing this part of my life, I have made a successful move and transitioned into this chapter exactly as it was meant to be.  I find so many things about myself I didn't acknowledge before kicked in and helped me to move forward.

I haven't had a single day that I have been sorry, thought I made a mistake or even considered moving back.  Every day has been an experience.  I have made wonderful new friends, joined a fantastic spiritual community with my Church, and have become very active within the spiritual community.

I have learned to enjoy my own company.

I spend a lot of time alone.  I have choices to go out or go places, and many days, I choose not to go out.  I often go for long walks on the nearby beach.  As a matter of fact, I have to remind myself that I am not on vacation and I can go to the beach any day I want, I don't have to cram it in.

My learning curve at work has grown beyond what I expected when I first got here.  I have settled into my team and feel like I have always been a part of this group.

I have discovered that because I went to the edge and jumped I am, for the first time in my life, completely happy.  Inside and out.  My heart and soul have finally found the best place for me.

I continue to grow emotionally and spiritually, to move to be closer to who I am meant to be. By being true to myself, I bring forth the best version of Diane to the world.

Has there been something nagging deep within you to make a major change in your life in order to be happy?  Is there a part of you that knows what you need to reinvent your life? If there is, what are you doing about it?  Are you honoring it and taking the necessary steps to move toward it? If not, what or who is holding you back?

"If you have the courage to take the risks, to say, ‘I'm going to reinvent this part of my life,’ you can be very, very happy."

— Susan Moliari
