Howdy Folks and Good Day!
Do you ever catch yourself thinking, “Oh, I wish I had…” or “I wish I could…”
and it sets off the yearning or desire to go buy or do something other than
what you have available to you right now?
I sure have! I’ve had times when my cupboards and refrigerator were filled to capacity but I saw a commercial for chocolate ice-cream or a pizza or what-not and all of a sudden I was ready to jump in my car and head out for some fast food.
How about all the times you’ve looked in a closet full of clothes and caught yourself saying, “I have nothing to wear…” even if you absolutely loved everything and thought you looked great in it when you bought it. (Ouey! Let’s just not go there!)
There will always be some thing (or activity) we don’t have right now but for some reason want. It’s human nature. Often it’s triggered when we see others with it or we see a photo or video that activates own desire. Sometimes it’s a craving that comes from within – and may even be legitimate. Cravings can be our body’s and mind’s way of balancing themselves when we get stressed and out of whack. But the question is: do really want to give in to those yearnings?
Sometimes the answer is yes. Quite often, it’s no.
If we’re willing to get to the root of the desire, we can satisfy the craving or yearning right where we are with what we already have available to us. The key is to ask what the craving is really trying to tell us.
For instance, if I’m depressed and more than likely in need of sunlight, my body will crave comfort foods and sweets. Can you say mac-n-cheese?!
If I’m craving potato chips or other salty foods, it’s usually because I’m thirsty or in need of potassium. (Salt makes the mouth water and also makes us want to drink more, and a lot of salty foods contain potassium.)
If I find myself day-dreaming of cruises or tropical island getaways I usually just need to spend a few minutes outside by water (a pond, lake, fountain, river or beach) to clear my energy.
If feel stressed and like I just want to bust out, it’s usually because I need some peace and quiet to let my mind rest and refresh itself.
Tune in. Notice the patterns. What are your cravings trying to tell you?
Once we recognize what our urges mean, we can learn the best way to satisfy them. I find having certain primary indulgences can help me feel better on the spot, even if they’re not the specific thing I seem to be craving on the surface. (This sure saves a lot of time and money that could otherwise be wasted on un-needed shopping!)
What can you indulge in right where you are?
Maybe it’s a really good cup of hot coffee or tea. Or perhaps a decadent piece of smooth dark chocolate. It could be sitting outside in the sunshine or just opening the window and listening to the birds sing. It could be petting your favorite pet or taking a play break with your kids. A soak in the tub. Or just a few minutes of quiet deep breathing or meditation.
Make a list of those things you can do right here, right now, wherever you are to use as a refresher for your body, mind, and spirit. It’s good to have one for both your work (or school) place and home.
The next time you feel anxious or get one of those strong yearnings or cravings, pause. Ask what the craving is really trying to tell you. (Beyond getting whatever you’re craving.) And see if you can satisfy it right where you are without having to go anywhere or buy anything new.
This little gratification method can go a long way in helping us enjoy what we have already as well as weaken the egos “not enough, gotta get more strategy.”
I hope you have a fabulous day! I’m off to indulge in some meditation next to my favorite jasmine plant with my kitties.
With Peace, Love, Happiness, Health, and Prosperity…
Rev. Jeanette

My Song — by Lisa Vaden
To Change what is Out There,
You Must First Change what is In Here
It can be very hard to understand the only way to change what is out there -- events, circumstances and relationships with others -- is to first change what is in here… wishes, fears, internal dialogues and relationship with oneself.
The reason this is difficult is because we have been conditioned to look without to validate within. But haven’t you noticed that this does not work? If so, that means there has got to be another way. There is always another way.
Let’s take money for instance. I bet 90% of people would say, “If I had more money then I would be happy.” My friend, it is not money that will make you happy. You are looking for security. You are looking for freedom. You are looking for a way which to feel abundant, both in yourself and in your surroundings. You are looking for confidence to follow your heart’s desire. You are looking for fulfillment. You are looking for love and support. Cold hard cash is not going to give this to you.
Have you ever wondered why, if God is so great, that He just doesn’t bestow a million dollars on each of us? God is greater than great; He’s one smart cookie. He knows very well that your soul’s desire is to develop within all of the characteristics (and more) that we spoke about above. Then when the outer world catches up with our inner world, the success is much more appreciated and accepted as an enhancement to what we already have. You want a compliment to your life, not an instead of.
You need to go within and find out what it is you truly want and why. Trace the whys until you get to the root of what you want. Search within until you find out what is holding you back. Find ways in which to give yourself the security, freedom, abundance, confidence, fulfillment, love and support you are seeking. Connect with the highest power and learn how to work with Him.
If I have left you with a feeling of “HOW, HOW, HOW?!!!!” that is a great sign. You just keep asking yourself and God “HOW, HOW, HOW!!!!” and your answers will come. Usually it comes right after you have finally gotten to the point of frustration and said “Forget it, I give up!” Truly letting go is necessary. It gets you out of the way, and opens the door for God to come in.

“Christian mystics have called it the
Christ within; Buddhists call it your Buddha nature; for Hindus, it is Atman,
the indwelling God. When you are in
touch with that dimension within yourself – and being in touch with it is your
natural state, not some miraculous achievement – all your actions and
relationships will reflect the oneness with all life that you sense deep
within. This is love.”

GOOD NEWS from SFPNNers!
VICARIOUSLY TRAVEL TO
Alaskan Cruise: Making a Dream Come True
My two sisters, my brother and I had the privilege of making a dream come true for our mother. She had talked through the years of her Dream Vacation being an Alaskan Cruise. We were all busy working and raising our families and hence put aside the idea of her Dream Vacation. But then her 70th birthday was approaching.
None of us had ever been on a cruise, so we had no idea if it was something we would enjoy or could pull off as a surprise. Planning and scheming started in earnest and on her 70th birthday in November of 1997, we surprised her with her Dream Vacation, booked and ready to go the following June 1998. She was speechless as we excitedly presented her with her gift. We had almost eight months of giddy anticipation, before we set sail.
I decided it would be fun to journal the entire trip so she could read about our adventures for years to come. We took videos and lots of pictures. Three sisters and their mother traveling together for the first time was sure to create an entertaining and amusing journey. To this day, almost ten years later, she still relives her Dream Vacation every now and then.

WALKING FOR
Los Angeles, CA -- Local hypnotherapist
Rosalba Fontanez will be hosting a “walk with intention” through Griffith Park on Wednesdays and Fridays
during March at
Like most health care practitioners, Fontanez believes that stagnation and a sedentary lifestyle will slowly degrade one‘s quality of life, but movement--such as walking--creates a shift in that energy. It offers an easy way to relieve stress, increase brain power, and improves one’s mood and overall health.
Fontanez created these walks after contemplating how she
could better serve the community. To
“walk with intention” refers to making a conscious awareness to nourish and
heal oneself through very easy exercise.
She feels the peaceful setting of
Fontanez will conduct a short introduction on how these walks serve to enhance peace and healing--first in the individual and then in the world--while sharing the intention of creating more peace personally in one’s life and, by extension, the rest of the planet. This is an opportunity to connect with other like-minded individuals and feed one’s health.
Emotional and spiritual healing are two areas Fontanez has focused on since her graduation with honors from the Hypnosis Motivational Institute in 2005. Her practice employs traditional hypnotherapy techniques but also branches out to more esoteric modalities, dependent on her clients’ needs. She has assisted clients in successfully overcoming a variety of issues, from anxiety and phobias to stress management and smoking cessation.

Wednesday WORD — by Diane, The
QUESTIONS
This week I have a few questions for you. They are very simple, but I will warn you that your answers might surprise you.
I was doing one of my most favorite
Some of you might be familiar with Cheryl
Richardson. She is a life coach
and has been on Oprah several times as well as Good Morning
I was really surprised after 2 hours that I had not finished all of them. However the ones I did complete provided some self realization. Let me ask you two of those questions…
If you were to pick an object to represent
your past, what would it be? Why?
If you were to pick an object to represent
your future, what would it be? Why?
Take a few minutes to think about these questions. There are no right or wrong answers.
I mediated on them for a few minutes and the answers that came to my mind really surprised me. Matter of fact, the answer to the past really shocked me until I started writing; only then did it make sense.
The answer to what represented my past was a bad haircut.
At first I didn't get it. But the more I thought about it the more sense it made. Let it be known that I have been a bit obsessive about my hair. Ok -- those who know me -- very obsessive. As soon as you get a bad haircut, you know it is bad. You think "what am I going to do now?"
You have a few choices: get another cut and hope that the next cut will even it out or look a bit better. Tolerate it just as it is. Cry about it. Feel embarrassed about it. Or hide until it grows out.
The one thing I realized was that the choice is always up to me what I do. I have the power to change it. And hair always grows and life moves on.
The second answer, the object to represent my future, was easy -- a Diamond. It is bright, shiny and clear. It is solid and forever. A diamond is formed by pressure and must mature to become the beautiful object it is. So much like me.
What were your answers?
Did they come easy or did you have to really think about them?
Did your answers surprise you?
And moving on… How is your vision board coming? I haven't heard from many of you on this topic recently.
Have you even been working on your Vision Board? You know once you put what you want into the forefront of you mind, find pictures of it and paste it to a board, you'll be surprised at how these things show up in your life.
Have a great week - you deserve it.
