Howdy Folks and Good Day!

One of my favorite movie themes as a kid was searching for treasure.  Can you remember back to childhood moments of play when everything was fresh, exciting, and an adventure to embark on, with a treasure to be discovered?

Quite honestly, the treasure hunt is still an active theme in my life. Every day offers us endless opportunities to discover fine treasures large and small, buried or right in front of our nose!

Treasures can be found in nature, our relationships, spirituality, the work place, home, stuck in rush hour traffic, in line at the grocery store and even in our worst difficulties or so-called defects.  Personally, when I uncover a behavior or belief that’s been sabotaging me, I celebrate!  I know I’ve found the buried treasure and after I clean it up a bit to get rid of the gunk and dirt, there’s a special jewel encased there.

I could write entire pages on making life a treasure hunt, but I’m pretty sure you “get it” already so I’m taking a different approach this morning.  I hope you’ll enjoy the following poem and that it will help you transform today (and every day) into your own personal treasure hunt.

TREASURE HUNT
by
JMP

When I wake up in the morning,
What do I see?
What special treasure
Awaits this day for me?

A beautiful sunrise,
A lover’s touch,
A child’s smile,
A parent’s hug 'n' such…

Perhaps skies of blue,
Or clouds of gray,
The song of a mourning dove,
Or the meow of a stray…

What music will I hear?
What dance steps will I learn?
Who will lend an ear?
What Graces will be earned?

Maybe I’ll meet a stranger
Who will become a friend.
Or an angel will save me from danger…
The treasures never end!

When I can’t see outside myself
All I need do is look within,
For treasures of the Self
Are sure to bring a grin…

And shall I discover
some hidden flaw,
I’ll know it’s a diamond
Still in the raw…

Each day offers a treasure
Waiting to be seen…
I’ll experience the pleasures
of life’s treasure hunt for me.

With Peace, Love, Happiness, Health, and Prosperity…

Rev. Jeanette

1.      What kind of day will today be?

The kind of day we make it!

A little pro-active positive programming can go a long way in creating our heart’s desires.  All of our thoughts have energy.  Energy attracts like energy.  Think about your desires for today. What would you like to experience in the next 24 hours?   Allow yourself to see it manifesting in your mind’s eye and feel it happening in your body so the energy of your thoughts and emotions draws it to you. Affirm it on the lines below!

Today, I desire and experience…

2.      The following is an exercise from Week Ten of The Artist’s Way.

Touchstones:

Make a quick list of things you love, happiness touchstones for you.

River rocks worn smooth, willow trees, cornflowers, chicory, real Italian bread, homemade vegetable soup, the Bo Deans’ music, black beans and rice, the smell of new-mown grass, blue velvet (the cloth and the song), Aunt Minnie’s crumb pie…

Post this list where it can console you and remind you of your own personal touchstones.

You may want to draw one of the items on your list --- or acquire it.  If you love blue velvet, get a remnant and use it as a runner on a sideboard or dresser, or tack it to the wall and mount images on it.  Play a little.

3.      Have YOU Experienced Soul Magic?

Miracles happen every day in every way.  Those amazing things, big and small, which touch our heart and soul can seem absolutely magical.  They often leave us with a profound feeling which goes beyond anything we can explain with logic.  Sometimes they change us for just a brief moment, filling us to overflowing with awe and wonder, gratitude, a sense of connection to something bigger, or even renewed faith.  Other times they are literally life changing.

As the editor of SFPNN, I personally invite you to share your Soul Magic experiences with us.

FALCON WATCH
By Nancy Leslie

Downtown at the Indianapolis Star, there is a Falcon that nests on their building. They have set up a web cam for her and two weeks ago she hatched three little white puff balls, possibly four. They are very cute when you can see them.

I happened to catch feeding time this afternoon. This is a 7 page sequential pdf file:

And here is a link to the actual Falcon Cam:

On a related note... Last night, I went up to the attic to do some jewelry work and now that the weather is getting warmer, I took down all the blankets and such that were covering the attic fan and found a hole in the screen. Right below the hole under the fan was a nest with 5 eggs. (I think it might be a Robin.)

I took my nylon screen and reapplied it in a larger area to allow momma bird to access her nest without getting into the rest of the attic. Looks like Mark and I will be hosting a little birdie nursery (provided I didn't scare Mommy away permanently) in the attic.

TUNED IN

After just driving 4,000 miles and attending a wedding and a funeral all in the last eleven days I wondered how tuned in we are to people and our surroundings.

The tape deck in my ten year old car isn't working since my last long trip. So, to be entertained on my long drive I had to resort to trying to get a clear station on the radio. This was a challenge as I drove from New Jersey through ten states to reach Florida.

Once in awhile I got clear reception and then it would disappear in five or ten minutes.  As I drove long stretches at a time I wondered if we are like the radio stations?  Can we be tuned in? Can we be clearer in our intentions? Are we tuned in to people in our lives? Or, are we just filled with static?

My 90 year old mother was reluctant to go on this long journey. But, she did.  Now she says "She wouldn't have missed it for the world"

Our journey was filled with many happy and sad moments, and some just filled with surprises.

I have trouble seeing at night and my new glasses didn't help when the flashing of construction lights on barrels filled my field of vision. So, as soon as I could, I got off the main road and traveled the darkened roads of a small town.

There was sure to be a main section in town where I could ask someone if there was a small hotel or motel that we could stay in for the night. But I couldn't find a main section in town. I couldn't even find an area where they had street lights. But, I did find something special.

I found a teenager working on his car in his garage. I asked him for directions to the nearest hotel or motel. He sounded knowledgeable about the area and gave me the directions with confidence and then made me repeat them back to him, which I did with less confidence. But, I did.

I thanked him and I pulled out of his driveway and left following the directions he gave me.

Just about five minutes later I faced a dirt road. Not knowing which way I should go, I stopped and reviewed the directions he gave me over in my head. I followed what he said, but now what should I do?

In a moment there was a car behind me with a very loud muffler. I turned to ask for directions and it was the same teenager!  He told us, "I thought about the directions I gave you, and I thought about this road and that you might not take it or you would get lost, so I decided to take you directly to an area where you could pick where to stay for the night. Just follow me."  And on blind trust, I did.

This sweet country teen took us to a populated area with a choice of places to stay. He drove twenty minutes completely out of his way to help two elderly ladies.

When I offered him money for gas and his time he refused to take it. When I said "If you didn't help me find my way they would have found two old ladies haunting the town on Halloween" he laughed.  Then I said "If you don't need it for gas money use it to fix your muffler so you don't wake the neighbors when you leave your home late at night helping someone who is lost.” He finally took the money.

I told him he was an angel and a blessing and that good things were going to appear in his life. He just smiled and shook his head like he knew what I said was true.

The next ten days where filled with all kinds of emotions and surprises.

Long relationships had chances to rekindle and some were healed of bitterness. All with no words spoken. Just a look, a touch, a knowing in their spirits, that all was well. . .

A tuning in of sorts. . .

Fine tuning. . .

No static, just the soothing emotions of the Spirit and God's grace.

Are you tuned in?
