“Sleepless in Seattle” is a great date movie.  It is romantic, funny, touching and sweet.  It is the story of Sam (Tom Hanks), and his son Jonah (Ross Malinger), as they move to Seattle after the death of Sam‘s wife.  Jonah calls into a late night, nationwide radio talk show looking for advice on finding his Dad a new wife.  Letters come pouring in to them, including one from Annie (Meg Ryan), a reporter from Baltimore who seemingly has the perfect life, yet is not quite sure of it all.  What happens next is a mixture of fate, luck, and perseverance.

Some of the most fun parts of the movie come when Sam and Annie are interacting with the other people in their lives.  Great actors like Rob Reiner, Bill Pullman, David Hyde Pierce and Rosie O’Donnell support Hanks and Ryan and provide their characters a real life to exist in.

The best part about “Sleepless in Seattle” is that it keeps things light.  Though it touches on heavy subjects like the death of a spouse/mother,  much of the story is actually lighthearted and fun.  It has the feel of an old Hollywood romance, with several nods to the classic movie “An Affair to Remember.”  Enjoy this one with the ones you love, both men and women will find something to like about this memorable film.
