My schedule was so slam-packed and crazy-busy I felt like I didn’t have time to breathe! Yet I knew I needed to take some time to meditate and send myself healing energy if I was going to get through the day grounded, centered and anything less than insane.
I set the timer for 20 minutes and sat down on the couch in a cross-legged meditation position. That’s when the crystal caught my attention. This wasn’t just any crystal. It was a rare rutilated quartz crystal with incredibly healing energy that held significant meaning for me.

Just as I was about to get up to take the crystal into meditation with me, my 18 pound tom cat, Howie, plopped himself right down on my lap – and would NOT move! Now getting in and out of that meditation pose can be a challenge for me on any given day, but with Howie in his dead-weight sleep mode determined to stay on my lap, I wasn’t going anywhere! Yet I still felt the pull of that crystal.
Just then, my cell phone rang and startled Howie enough that I was able to get up and grab my phone before it bumped into voicemail. It said, “Unknown Caller” and as soon as I answered, the call dropped. “That’s strange,” I thought, “Most people will at least say hello to find out if they have the right number.”
Suddenly my attention was once again directed toward the rare rutilated quartz crystal; it was almost as if a powerful magnet was pulling me in its direction. I looked over at it and was astonished to see the crystal was absolutely GLOWING -- of its own accord!
I immediately walked over to where it was resting and picked it up. As soon as I did, the crystal stopped glowing but I felt a very peaceful and powerful energy wash over me.
Could it be the crystal had called me? I’m not one to place bets on rocks making phone calls but this certainly was beyond the normal realm of my experience! I’ve never seen a crystal glow on its own before, and there certainly was a pull for me to connect with it.
I took the crystal in my hands and went to meditate for the remainder of the twenty minutes. Despite the busy monkey mind that had plagued me for the past several days and weeks, I went into a completely blissful state of tranquility and healing peace. When the timer went off ten minutes later I felt completely refreshed, recharged, and ready to face the day!
While I still wouldn’t bet money on crystals making phone calls, there was something about that crystal which truly called to my soul and brought about a wonderful sense of tranquility and healing.
