Welcome to the first ever SFPNN Workshop:  Taking Care of Myself 101.

 

The only way we can feel loved, happy, peaceful, fulfilled, and
connected to our Higher Power is to take care of ourselves!  



This workshop is designed to help you live a positive life!

 

Your purpose on this planet, before anything else, is to take care of YOU.  

 

*       Once you begin to take of YOU, you will increase your connection to Divine Guidance.

*       You will have more insight, clarity, and creativity on a daily basis. 

*       You will have more energy to do those things you feel guided to do. 

*       You will have more love and compassion to help others.  

*       You will have more faith in your own ability and in that of a supportive God and Universe. 

*       You will KNOW you are capable because you will actually FEEL capable. 



The body, mind, emotions and spirit need proper care to work together as one. 


If we don’t take care of ourselves all the tools God gave us for living a good life can’t work properly.  If we’re not caring for ourselves properly, we are not loving ourselves.  When we don’t give ourselves the love and care we deserve, we send out the signal to ourselves and everyone around us that we are unworthy!  Because our thoughts create our reality and attract similar energy, we will attract unloving, uncaring situations and circumstances.  These are simply to mirror our own thoughts! 


The reality is that we are
ALL deserving and worthy of Love and Self Care!

We simply need to take care of ourselves!

  is designed to cover the basic elements of great Self Care:

Each category asks a series of questions to help you determine where you are in your level of Self Care for that topic.   It then asks you further questions to help you figure out what you can do to improve the situation, increase your Self Care, and work doable solutions into your daily routine. 

 

Increasing your Self Care increases your energy levels.  It increases your vitality.  It increases your confidence, courage, and faith. 

 

Great Self Care helps you feel more positive about yourself and the world you live in. 

 

Taking great care of your Self is NOT narcissistic.  In fact, because you are loving your Self when you provide great Self Care, you are increasing the flow of love in your life which means you are more able to both GIVE and RECEIVE  Love

 

When you set a tone of love and caring, you attract loving and caring situations in your life and you are better able to love and care for yourself AND those around you.

 

There are a few ways to do the SFPNN Workshop Taking Care of Myself 101.  It was created as a Word document, about 22 pages in length with 12 pt Arial font for easy printing and future writing.  However, in uploading to the website, the layout may have been affected by its conversion to HTML, as well as different internet browser viewing and printer capabilities. 

 

• You can try printing it right from the internet (I’d recommend a preview first to make sure it’s in an OK format)

 

• Download the file from the website

 

• Select all, copy and paste into your computer’s word processor.  

 

By downloading or doing a copy and paste, you can work with the format and adjust font size, etc., to fit your writing style and print out capabilities.    If neither of those options works for you, e-mail me and I can send you a copy of the Word file.  (Make sure you can open Word HTML documents if you choose this option.)

• You may also click on your category of choice and simply write the questions and answers on a sheet of paper.

 

This workshop will take some time and effort but I guarantee you will get some great insights, ideas and goals to work toward.  If you get stuck as to how to improve in certain categories, ask family members, friends, coworkers and health care professionals for suggestions.  Or e-mail me and I can tell you what’s worked in my life.

 

Keep a copy of your workshop and the blank worksheets so you can do check-ins as appropriate.  Some of you will finish the workshop in a day and might want to check in with yourself 30 days from now by doing the workshop again, tracking your progress.  It might take others a month to complete the workshop depending on your level of commitment to your Self.   If that’s the case, it’s probably going to take you longer to implement the changes you come up with and you might need two or three months before you're ready to do the workshop again and track your progress.

 

For those of you who look at the workshop and feel overwhelmed, it’s OK.  Just do one category at a time.  Pick the area of your life that you feel drawn to. It doesn’t matter which one you choose first. What matters is that you begin to provide yourself with the loving energy of great Self Care!  Once you start to improve in one area, begin focusing on the next while maintaining your Self Care changes.

 

Folks, everything in this workshop is doable everyday living!  These are the questions which led to the changes I’ve implemented in my own life and have found really work!   This workshop will help you set your own goals to provide the self care you need and deserve. 

 

Learning to provide great Self Care WILL change your life!   It is the single most positive action you can do for yourself, your dreams, your family, your friends, and your higher power.  (I say single most positive action, but it really is comprised of many smaller ones.)

 

I personally invite each of you to provide your own Great Self Care and make the best investment in living a positive life you can!  It’s called YOU!

Tips for a better night's sleep:


Run an air purifier for 30 - 60 minutes before going to bed.

• Use a humidifier or dehumidifier according to your comfort levels and needs.

• Practice shutting down your mind before bed.

Listen to relaxing music, chakra clearing tones, or guided meditations as you fall asleep.

• Do not work, watch the news, TV or movies which depict violence for at least one to two hours before going to bed.

• Find the perfect pillow... If nothing else works, try a foam travel pillow.

• Use a memory foam mattress pad.

• Do gentle stretches or yoga before bed.

• Do NOT consume anything with sugar, alcohol, salt, artificial sweeteners, caffeine or high amounts of fat and grease for least 3 - 4 hours before going to sleep.

• Try not to eat anything for 2 hours prior to going to bed.  If you suffer from Low Blood Sugar, try eating a very small portion of something with a slow burn rate such as a tablespoon or two of peanut butter, yogurt, or cottage cheese.

• Drink plenty of water through out the day so your muscles stay hydrated and you don't get charlie horses, cramps, or general soreness at night.

• Pay attention to your dreams and either discuss them or write them down first thing in the morning. Try to interpret your dreams and/or ask yourself, "what message was this dream trying to convey?  What was the overall feeling I got from it?"   Often similar themes will return to our dreams until we acknowledge what they're trying to tell us.  The book, "The Secret Language of Signs – by Denise Linn"  is the best dream and sign  interpretations book I've come across.  I highly recommend it for dream interpretation and figuring out other events in your life that make you go "Hmmmm..."

Some ways to help me use a list and make shopping more convenient, economical and healthier include:

• Keeping a shopping list notepad and pencil on the refrigerator and writing down (healthy) items as I run out of them.

• Using a weekly menu to help me determine what to buy.

• Buy more FRESH food and produce, buy LESS convenience, pre-packaged, preservative filled foods.

• Pre-planning and taking a lunch to work instead of going out to eat

• NOT using coupons for junk-food items

• NOT stocking up on unhealthy sale items.

• Using fruit for desert to fulfill cravings for sweet things, and noting a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, nuts and grains in my menu and on my shopping list.

Using this example, I can choose healthy options instead of wondering what to eat and grabbing less healthy “convenience” foods.  For instance, I might want whole wheat spaghetti and tomato sauce, a salad, and pear slices for one meal, a baked potato with a small amount of butter, plain yogurt (instead of sour cream) cracked black pepper and fresh chives with steamed green beans on the side, and blueberries for dessert as another a meal.

There are many, many books on health and diet available on the market.  Some are focused on blood type, others go by protein, some by complex carbohydrates, some are for weight loss, others are geared toward high blood pressure or keeping your glucose levels in check.  What works for one person does not necessarily work for another!  This is why it is SO IMPORTANT to tune into your body and keep track of what you eat and how it makes you feel.  Check in with your body as its Infinite Wisdom.  Ask your intuition and your Higher Power to guide you.  Check out as many different types of resources as you can and see what rings true for you.

Once you tune into your thoughts and identify the areas that are NOT positive, it's important to reprogram yourself to a better way of thinking.  One of the best ways to do this is with positive affirmations.  For each of the areas above where you caught yourself thinking something negative, judgmental or critical, go back and write a positive affirmation!  Work with these affirmations daily... writing them down, speaking them aloud (especially looking in a mirror) and record them and play them back to yourself as you're falling asleep at night or any time during the day.

The book "You CAN Heal Your Life" by Louise L. Hay is a wonderful way to begin to change one's perspective to something more positive.   The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron is another great resource that will help you identify critical thinking and give you resources for working through your blocks.

We all have different body types.  It's important to work WITH your body and not against it.  Some of us need LOTS of really challenging physical activity. While some of us need quiet gentle stretches.  I personally LOVE Pilates and Yoga and have found I feel wonderful after these work outs.  Not only do I feel great, but I can do them in the comfort of my home using just an exercise mat and a DVD.   Click here for a list of Yoga and Pilates resources.
