Joy and happiness often elude us.
THE ENCHANTED SELF teaches how to access joy by recalling positive
memories, recognizing our potential, and realizing what gives us
pleasure.
I am Dr. Holstein, a psychologist, life coach, author, and originator of
THE ENCHANTED SELF: A Positive Therapy. Through the private
psychology practice that I share with my husband, Dr. Russell Holstein, we
have created a long overdue shift in psychology by emphasizing what's
right with us, rather than what's wrong.
Creating a shift in psychology that encourages hope and optimism, while
teaching methods of recognizing our strengths, talents and potential, with
strategies that help each person achieve positive states of being, again
and again, (what I call THE ENCHANTED SELF) was so important to me, that I
immediately took my material out of the treatment room, to reach many
others. In essence, I took THE ENCHANTED SELF 'on the road', via the web
with both written material and audio, television, radio, seminars,
workshops, newsletters, and books.
This led to me developing many ways of teaching the core concepts of
enchantment and to give others courage to move forward themselves in
leading more positive lives. I teach others how to use the positive
powers that rest within each of us for personal good and the greater
good. I love working with the core principles of Positive Psychology. To

Lest, I forget my dear
husband. While I became the ENCHANTRESS, he became the DISENCHANTED

major shift in positive psychology that THE ENCHANTED SELF is all about.
I have listened to many of my clients mention and then discount the
positive events and memories they had experienced in the past and present.
This made me realize that psychotherapy, as it is commonly practiced
today, focuses almost exclusively on the client's 'pathology'. I concluded
that clients cannot feel complete until their strengths, rather than their
problems, become the fulcrum for therapy. My book, THE ENCHANTED SELF, A

THE ENCHANTED SELF is a way of seeing the glass half full and yourself as
extraordinary rather than ordinary. It's also a way of recognizing the
hero or the heroine within yourself and recognizing that your own personal
memories contain not only your life story, but a wealth of wisdom with
which to reinvent yourself again and again. You are the only person who
has had your unique experiences, human reactions, and thoughts. You are
the holder of the key to your own Enchantment. It is out of your past that
you can find coping skills, ability, talent and lost potential. It is a
paradigm shift that teaches how to focus on the positive rather than the
negative. You can determine what you enjoy, what gives you pleasure, and
