Ask Dr. Joe

--- Muscles or Bones?

********** Question **********

How does a person tell if they are sore from their muscles being tight,

over-worked, or strained, or if their bones are out of alignment? Is there

a difference in how the pain feels? What are the symptoms of each? What

determines whether you should seek help from a physician or a chiropractor?

********** Answer ***********

Muscles usually ache, pinched nerves usually are a sharper pain, something

like a stabbing pain. If the pain does not go away after 3 days, sharp or

dull, it is time for a chiropractic evaluation. If the pain is so severe

that it may be life threatening, a medical review might be a good initial

start. Once medication has settled down the discomfort, then get to the

chiropractor. Medicine is very good at emergencies, but if it is muscle or

bone or nerve problems, chiropractic is the way to go. If it needs

additional attention, the chiropractor can work in conjunction with the

medical people to resolve the problem.

Hope this helps, let me know how else I can help.
