Sir Froggie’s Pondering

Ancient Amphibious Wisdom for a Modern Day World

PRESENT YOUR GIFTS TO THE WORLD -
AND YOURSELF!

What special talents and skills do you have?  What are your personal and unique traits?  How are they helpful?

Present your gifts to the world - and yourself!

We've all been told we're unique and possess special abilities and personality traits, but sometimes we have difficulty realizing what they are or what benefit they could hold.  Many of us are like a stored-away rare vintage painting or sculpture... one of a kind works of art whose value has yet to be realized. It's time to take this work of art for an appraisal and get pleasantly surprised!

Gifts and talents don't apply exclusively to technical training or work skills.  It's equally important to have personal, emotional and spiritual skills too.  Being able to give a healing hug is just as valuable as being able to use a computer or calculator.  Knowing how to care for children or an elderly parent with compassion and patience is just as significant as knowing how to make a great corporate CEO.  Even something as simple as smiling at others can make a tremendous impact.

Our individual gifts are customized for each one of us and our unique place in the world.  We get the best results when we are consciously aware of what we have to offer and the ways we can utilize these contributions.  We're even more effective when we team up with others who have different traits than us.  But in order to do so, we must recognize what we bring to the table.

If you're not sure where to begin, finish the following sentence:  Regarding my personality, I am...

Let the words come without editing.  Keep writing until you feel like you've completely described yourself.  Get a highlighter and highlight every positive word.  Make a list of the words you just highlighted.

Now get a second highlighter.  Is there anything that might be seen as negative, or as an undesirable quirk?  Highlight it.  Next, look at the list of so-called negatives.  Are there any positive aspects of each particular word?

For instance, if you described yourself as a workaholic, does your workaholism help you complete projects or bring financial abundance?  If you described yourself as having a short attention span, does this help you multi-task or not take life or yourself too seriously?

Most of our negative aspects are simply positive things that have gotten out of balance or aren't being put to good use.  Add your newly transformed positive aspects to the list.

Then finish the following sentence:  Some of my skills and talents are...

Once again make a list of all the skills and talents you have until you can no longer think of any.

Which ones are the most important to you?  Were you surprised by any of the things you wrote down?  How does it feel reading over your lists?  How can you apply these gifts in your life and share them with others?

It's essential to recognize the value of your own presence! (Valuing yourself is not the same as conceit or arrogance.  It's honoring the Divine within you.) The more in tune with yourself you are, the more you can give of yourself both within your own life and in the lives of others.

Know this beyond a doubt: If you're here on this planet, you have special traits, talents and skills to share.  You have a meaningful and purposeful reason to be here!  So take the time and effort to discover what you can offer.

Then present your gifts to the world - and to yourself!
