Sir Froggie’s Pondering

Ancient Amphibious Wisdom for a Modern Day World

SOAR LIKE A HAWK
AND NEVER MIND THE CROWS!

Are you reaching for new heights?  Do you lift others up with you?  Are you flying on the currents of each new day?

Soar like a hawk – and never mind the crows!

While taking a walk one sunny afternoon my senses were overjoyed with the fragrance of flowers, sage and pine trees.  Yellow, purple, and light blue blossoms burst out of the green shrubbery.   The cobalt sky made the perfect backdrop for a beautiful red-tailed hawk soaring in the sunlight and I rejoiced as she called out to say hello.

That’s when I heard them. . . In stark contrast to the graceful greeting of my friend, Hawk, the crows began their menacing crackling caws.  Upon noticing Hawk soaring above them, the crows beckoned one another to join forces and antagonize Hawk’s peaceful flight.

Hawk wasn’t shaken.  She merely circled higher, riding the rising wind currents.  But the crows were persistent and called in more recruits, cackling, cawing and gathering around Hawk as she nonchalantly rose higher and higher.

Hawk is much more powerful than any crow.  I’ve seen her keen hunting abilities in action before as she dove down and swooped up a four foot long rattlesnake!  She could have easily taken on any one (or all) of those pesky crows.  But she didn’t engage with them.  She simply flew higher. This seemed to make the crows even more upset as they circled around her, raising even more of a ruckus.

One crow repeatedly lunged at Hawk, coming closer and closer.  When it became too much, Hawk rose above the crow then shot down like a bullet at him showing she meant business.  The crows dispersed and Hawk once again took over the sky, peacefully sailing, gliding and soaring above it all on the warm afternoon breezes.

Flying high can challenge those who spend their efforts engaged in lower-vibration activities. Whether it relates to climbing in our careers, sharing our ambitions, loving openly and honestly, expressing ourselves or simply feeling good about who we are and those around us, achieving new heights can sometimes antagonize those who haven’t yet ascended to a higher level.   It can draw criticism, pressure and hostility even when we’ve done nothing to directly trigger it.  We’re then faced with the choice of engaging with those who want to do battle or to continue soaring, unfazed by the chaos.

Often the best choice is to ignore those ol’ crows who gossip, complain, bicker, and fight amongst themselves.  Sometimes when directly attacked, we must set boundaries and not allow ourselves to be taken down. However, we can stay airborne with strength and grace, holding our head high, and never falling to the same level as the aggressors.

Every day offers countless opportunities to let our spirit soar or to cackle and caw with those unwilling to fly on the day’s currents.  Life is much more peaceful and rewarding when viewed with a raised consciousness and from a higher perspective!
