Sir Froggie’s Pondering

Ancient Amphibious Wisdom for a Modern Day World

GO WHERE YOU’RE GUIDED

Do you have a clear sense of direction?  Do you know what your purpose is?  Do you have a sneaking suspicion you’re here to do great things but aren't exactly sure what?

Go where you’re guided!

God works through each one of us.  Sometimes it’s in the smile we give to strangers.  Other times it’s in the hug we give to friends, coworkers and family members.  It may be through a specific skill or talent.  Quite often it’s through the words we speak.

While we may not be consciously aware of God working through us every moment of the day, He is nonetheless.  Especially when we’re open to it.

There are a lot of metaphors we could use for how God works… We might say He’s up there with a big chess board directing us as the individual pieces of the game.  Or that He’s like an air traffic controller, guiding us here and there, giving directions on when to stop and hold, when to proceed, when to take off and where to land.  We might think of God like the world’s greatest talent agency placing each of us where we need to be when we need to be there. Which comparison we use isn’t as important as choosing to listen to the Guidance.

Getting clear Guidance is easier than it might seem.  We don’t have to wait for the clouds to open up and a being of Light to come down with horns blaring and an announcement of what our next move is.  It’s much more subtle than that.  Often it comes through in our thoughts… A simple directive such as “leave a little earlier than usual” or “talk to the person next to you in line.”  It might be an urge to try something new or a feeling about taking a class.  It could be in the form of a split second vision in our mind’s eye or gentle words nudging us to speak from the heart and not to take things personally.

Sometimes we won’t know the reason we’re being guided to do something; we just know we have to do it… like booking a weekend seminar and retreat with an author we’d never heard of.  Other times the reasons are obvious… like going to care for a sick or aging Loved One.  While the reasons and activities may vary widely with Divine Guidance, the underlying feeling has a certain quality or “presence” to it; a knowing; a prompting; a sense that this is something we really need to do -- even if we’re not sure why.

When we follow this Guidance there is always a gift in it.  Often the gifts are obvious: finding out we avoided getting caught in traffic because we turned off the road we normally take, discovering something we needed was on sale when we suddenly felt the need to go to a specific store, spending time with a Loved One before their transition and getting to know them and ourselves better, all the while deepening the love between us.

Occasionally the gifts may not be so obvious.  There may even be challenges.  And we will wonder why we were guided there in the first place.  Almost always we will find the answers and be better for them.  We may even witness miracles. Or we could find ourselves never knowing the real meaning of being there other than to develop trust and faith by following Divine Directives.  This in itself is an amazing gift!

There are so many blessings waiting for the perfect opportunity to work their way into our lives.  Listening to the promptings of the soul, and to our own GPS (God Positioning System), we are always placed where we are needed… to serve a purpose, to help others, to usher in goodness for ourselves and those we love.  We may recognize a common theme or pattern. Or we may not.  It really doesn’t matter as long we know God is working through us.

We must simply go where we’re guided.
