Encounters              --- by Ray Hart

Helen Street

Have you ever met someone who was so negative that you just couldn't wait to get away from them? Or have you ever passed by someone with what appeared to be a face that dared you to say anything to them? Sometimes when I'm not feeling too good about myself I seem to see a lot of people who are out to get me. And when I feel that way it doesn't take me too long to realize that my perception stems from the projection of my feelings. I know then that it's time for an attitude adjustment. Which is why I usually make it a point to meet positive folks when I travel.

One of the things that always worked for me was to attend a meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous when I traveled, or go to a place where I was sure to meet hugger muggers. That meant to go to a Church of Religious Science, or to a Unity Church where I would feel among like minded friends who I had not met.

When I first arrived in Hawaii I went to a Sunday service of Religious Science where I met Helen Street. She was the minister of the church at Diamondhead and subsequently I worked and lived in that area after meeting Helen. The thing about her was that not only did she say the positive things I wanted to hear, along with giving the hug that I needed, but she also seemed to have a glow around her. It was almost as if a light surrounded her when she stood in front of the congregation and talked about us being a part of the Mind of God.

Helen played a significant part in my life by always nudging me in a positive direction. She also became a spring board for me to meet many others who seemed to pass on the positive contagious energy that changed my life in so many significant ways.

Helen was originally from Nogales, Arizona, and I learned from a shopkeeper near there that Helen had made her transition a few years ago. And that's when I remembered The Helen Street Show. ( I was honored to work a camera for her on a weekly basis.) She had become a positive influence beyond her church, and that's also when I really discovered that one person CAN make a difference in the world by changing others through projection. Thanks, Helen, for the lesson well taught.
