Welcome, Ray Hart, PNN's Newest Featured Columnist
Let's extend a great big PNN welcome to our newest featured columnist, Ray Hart. Ray has already shared some of his touching stories with us but the adventures he and Joy (Yes, our very own "Moments of Joy" author) shared in Hawaii. Ray and Joy have both studied the incredible spiritual approach to life, A Course In Miracles. Ray will now share what he's encountered and experienced during this course on life lessons and what they've meant to him.
His first column is dedicated to Frieda R., who made the request of our PNN readers to share their success stories of second marriages.
A special note to Frieda: When I got your letter this morning, I wasn't sure if this would be the day Ray's column would appear or not as I hadn't viewed his story yet. But there, right after your pledge to be positive, was Ray's Encounter. God moves in mysterious ways, Frieda. And he's working in your life right now. Be open. Be patient. Be sure love will flow into your life from both the inside and out.
A special note to Ray: Thank you for following your marching orders, Ray. As always, God's timing - and yours - are perfect. Welcome aboard!

A Course In Miracles
In November, 1988, I went to a retreat in Mokuleia on the north shore of Oahu, Hawaii. It was a Friday and the Sunday before I had gone through a process of getting honest with myself. This took place at the Unity Church at Diamondhead under the guidance of the minister, David McClure. The process involved admitting to God that I didn't know how to open up to a relationship and then turning it over to Him. After having been married a couple of times and trying a few short-lived, live-in relationships that didn't work out I had closed my heart to the point where I simply accepted the possibility that I would not have a meaningful relationship in the near future. And then David led me through the above process.
At the retreat there were about thirty friends I hadn't yet met. The people I knew were leading an intensive study in A Course In Miracles. We went through the introductions and everybody joined in singing and marching around the meeting room. Jack and Eulelia led us on and soon we all pretended to play a musical instrument as we marched to the music that Joy had written. She taught us the words easily - something about the National Parks Tour - and soon I found myself setting across from her as we drew our interpretations of a figure who was hugging a mirror image. Cake was passed out later and Eulelia said that we should share it with a person at the table. Joy and I fed each other and called it our communion.
That's how it began. We became partners through the weekend and everybody seemed to know something that I didn't know. A lot of smiling and nodding of heads. The next weekend Joy and I spent together on the island of Kauai where we told each other our deepest secrets. Joy wrote a song about it - One Saturday On Saturn - and when the rainbow formed over our heads as we drove under it we knew that something was happening. Our encounter led to the marriage of our souls and we have been together now for over ten years. It just keeps getting better!
